A short video about why we love our humble, bountiful valley. Rural is innovative. Small is big. And we love beautiful, unique Yakima.
We love our town, and we know a lot of folks do. So, why does our beloved Yakima get such a bad rap? We believe Yakima is worthy of "the kind of love that causes you to write letters, shout from rooftops, and challenge anyone who would dare speak poorly of your beloved." That's why we founded I Heart Yakima. And we believe one of the best ways to share the Yakima story is through video. Filmmaker and Yakima native Jimmy Marble is helping us create this vision with a video that will be the first of its kind: a high-quality story that shows why our town is unique, quirky, beautiful, and worth taking seriously. We want to turn heads and change perceptions. You're going to want to share this video with friends, family and anyone who may question your love for our valley. Want to light a fire? Join us!

Timing was in our favor when we asked Jimmy & his team to film our project--he had an opening in late September and completed the project then. It is waiting in the vault for YOUR support to release it to the public. We suppose there could still be technical challenges in getting it to us (god forbid a corrupted file!) but we are ready to rock & roll on this.
Also: We have NOT seen the final cut, so there could be some last minute edits that would add a scene or two that we thought was vital. But we're confident in Jimmy's team and working together to fulfill our shared vision.
And, though we are confident this is a video that will be shared near & far, it is impossible to predict how much impact it will have. This is also where YOU come in--sharing is contagious.
Approximately 1 minute 30 seconds, with a 30 second version also.
We are proud of the diversity of our valley, and it was top of mind when we filmed. We were limited by two things: time, and willingness to participate. That said, the final video will look more diverse than our sneak-peek (i.e., we filmed a salsa class, lunch at taco truck, a diverse group of students, etc. - not that diversity is defined by these things, but remember we only have 2 minutes). No video will fully represent the diversity of our Valley, but know that we did work to be inclusive. We are always open to ideas and thoughts – so if you have some people or places you’d like to see in the next one, let us know! We’ll look forward to your help.
We plan to share this video far and wide. Of course, it will be shared online via Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc. Additionally, we will approve the use of the video by entities for promotion of Yakima (i.e.,sponsor businesses, the city, the state, visitors and convention bureau, etc.). We will also pitch the final video to blogs and online entities to ensure it gets as many impressions as possible.
The launch party will be held on February 13, 2014 at The Seasons in Yakima. Approximately 200 people can attend.
