Can we reach our goal this weekend?
We had an *incredible* week. I remarked to a few friends how grateful I am to have a project that focuses on running. For those of you in the United States, I'm sure you'd agree that if members of our government were runners (on both sides of the aisle), we'd have a much better functioning country.
Now, I don't mean to get political, but when you're on a trail are you even thinking about other runners' politics? No! When we run, you can say we're reduced to our truest nature or, rather, we're elevated to our truest nature.
Everyone seems to have short term ideas on how to fix things, but I think, as runners, we know there are no short term quick fixes to anything. We can't just PB our marathon times with wishful thinking. Great races are a byproduct of months of training, mental and physical preparation and .... a nice dose of good fortune.
And how do we get that good fortune? By learning that we can only compete with ourselves. That spiritual state of self-transcendence - that's why we run.
Anyhow, we're so close to our goal! After this month of preparation, we've been so lucky to have been showered by good fortune - thanks explicitly to you all.
Please do have a great weekend - (Happy Mother's Day in the US) and, hopefully, by the end of weekend we'll reach our goal.
