Update 4/12/12: If we break $42,500 by Friday, April 13th at 10pm HST we'll be the most funded Kickstarter project to ever come out of Hawaii! I'll throw in a free DYSBHI T-Shirt for anyone who has pledged $50 or more if we make it!
Hey everybody, thanks for checking out my project! I'm so excited to be a part of the Kickstarter community. If you have any questions or thoughts, I'd love to hear from you on Facebook or Twitter. You can also stay updated with the campaign on my blog.
My skateboard making hobby started with a simple need. I wanted a skateboard. So I made one and then I was hooked. I took my passion of woodworking and the skills I learned from my parents (who have been woodworkers for over 31 years), and started to create products I love.
Over the years I have refined the skateboard making process, making them thinner so they have better flex when riding them and more intricate with different stringer patterns. Each board is veneered with premium Hawaiian and other exotic woods that are not dyed or stained. Then I use sand as an “organic grip tape”, enhancing the true beauty of the wood and “surf feel” of the boards.
The final step in this refining process requires a commercial grade laser engraver. This will enable me to engrave my logo on each board without interrupting the natural feel. For years I have used vinyl decals of my logo that eventually get scratched or removed over time. With the laser engraver, the final product will truly be a work of art!
A commercial grade laser engraver will also give me the opportunity to develop exciting new products. The first three of which I'm premiering on Kickstarter for all of you!
