We have an award-winning Danish play, now we just need a bathroom set to perform it in. Spend a penny to help us build the set!
Helmer Hardcore is the electrifying modern day sequel to Ibsen’s classic A Doll’s House (which we are also performing!). Solely set in Helmer’s bathroom this gripping Scandinavian drama cuts to the heart of the human condition.
Nora, the main character of A Doll’s House, leaves her husband Helmer at the end of the play (Ooops, spoilers!). Over the years, much has been written about what happened to Nora ...
"But what about Helmer? Did he just sit in a corner feeling ashamed for the next hundred years or did he become a happier, wilder and greedier man after Nora left him. Helmer Hardcore is the modern-day story of how Helmer went amok once the door had shut behind Nora.” (Jakob Weis).
Did we mention the whole thing is set in a bathroom?

Dates: 2 - 22 November
Venue: Rose Lipman Building (East London)
Why you should help
We have an amazing, award-winning Danish play that we want to share with the world (the English language world premiere no less!), we have a phenomenal cast ready to bring it to life, we have a fantastic venue to host it, what we don’t have is a set.
We would all find it difficult to live without our bathrooms, for us it’s impossible! How often in life can you say that buying a toilet helped the arts? Well in this case it would be true! We don’t want to be caught short, so please spend a penny (or two) with us!
Who we are
[Foreign Affairs] is an international theatre company based in East London with its heart beating in every corner of the world. The company was formed in 2010 by Camila França and Trine Garrett to cultivate a creative environment in which people from all walks of life can come together to explore, work, develop and showcase new and exciting ideas.
Today we are six women of five nationalities, brought together by our passion for living, breathing theatre. As a team, we are fearless, playful and at times a little mad. We also share a weakness for homemade cake.
We create vibrant, passionate and physically connected work that moves and matters, embracing equality and placing humanity centre stage.
