TLDR: We are continuing our acclaimed Broadside Library with a new portfolio on the theme of ALTERNATIVE FACTS. This portfolio is carefully curated, designed, and printed by master craftsmen. Please consider supporting this literary and artistic endevour, as we continue the perpetuation of ideas that matter.
The truth is hard to parse.
In the days after President Trump's inauguration, a paradigm-shifting exchange took place. Chuck Todd asked White House adviser Kellyanne Conway why the President insisted upon disseminating "provable falsehoods." They weren't, she said, they were "alternative facts."
We live in a world of extremes, where every side is given a podium, and the alternatives crash into other. In the past, debate usually involved the question, "What do the facts mean?" President Trump has not participated in this grand discourse. Rather, his dissemination of falsehood has forced the conversation to become, "What are the Facts?"
In this milieu, we seek to participate in the reclamation of the word Fact—to return it to its mantel. Some things truly are "alternative facts," that is, opposing claims on the truth. The alternative facts of the Trump administration discombobulate the term itself. That said, there are some truths so convincing, so compelling, that we reel when we learn that they are not, in fact, true. These, truly, must be dragged into the light.
Therefore, it is with a belief in the relevance of truth that we present ten broadsides of Alternative Facts.
What you get.
As part of our ongoing broadside initiative on Kickstarter, we are launching a two-week campaign to get our second portfolio off the ground. You will receive the Alternative Facts Broadside Portfolio which holds ten broadsides printed letterpress.
Each broadside is printed letterpress on heavy archival stock. Rather than print the broadsides digitally (as you might do at home, or as with the vast majority of printed material you encounter), we print our broadsides letterpress. That means that after laying out the design for each broadside, we create a physical plate, which is then rolled with ink, and pressed one at a time into the heavy stock. You can feel the indent of the type as you run your finger across it. If you've never owned a letterpress printed publication, this is the perfect place to start.
Vol. 2, No. 2 : Our second broadside portfolio.
Two months ago we published, with Kickstarter's help, our first broadside portfolio on the theme of American Protest. The support we received was massive, and we were humbled by it. There are a few remaining American Protest portfolios available, and you can pledge for one now.
