BACKGROUND: As a pastor, I have had the privilege of helping others journey through suffering for years. I've learned even more about suffering as I've carried a chronic illness in my body for the last 6 years. But nothing can fully prepare us for certain tragedies. Some things the soul was never meant to absorb and I cannot absorb the tragic loss of my brother.
What do you do when all you can do is wait in unending pain? My heart has been led to share my suffering with you and my hope is that others will be comforted in knowing they are not alone.
VISION: Over the last months as I sit in my sadness, song after song flows from somewhere deep inside. I've selected the 10 songs that mean the most to me and I am recording my newest album The Mourners in Nashville this summer. I'm writing an E-BOOK with stories behind the songs and reflections on how grace and community help us survive.
A new friend, Jeremy Casella, will produce this album. Jeremy is well known for his work with Indelible Grace as well as his solo music career. His newly released album Death in Reverse (which he co-produced) is AMAZING and has been in my CD player nonstop for many weeks now.
GOAL: The $15,000 budget allows for a beautiful album to be recorded, mixed, and mastered. This budget hires some of the best session players in Nashville and excellent engineers for tracking, mixing and mastering. This budget also allows for the CD's to be manufactured.
A Partial List of those involved: Ken Lewis, Matt Pierson and Billy Whittington; Grammy award winning engineer Jim Dineen; Kenny Hutson who is currently playing with David Crowder; Nathan Dugger who is a highly sought after session guitarist.
Recording will be completed in July with mixing done in early August. I long to make some beautiful art through this music. It is happening with this team and with your help!
As the goal gets close to being surpassed, I'll be posting some stretch goals as well.
Thanks so much for reading and for your support. Please spread the word.
Risks and challenges
The largest challenge is simply spreading the word. I am thankful for so many friends who are posting this on facebook, twitter, and spreading this kickstarter through email and word of mouth.
We are poised and ready to ride. The music has been written. The studio time and musicians have been booked. All that remains is the funding and the recording.
My goal is an end of August release date for the album, e-book and the merchandise will be ready to send out as well. The recording will be completed in July and that just leaves mixing for early August and then the physical pressing of CD's.
I'll contact you personally for T-shirt sizes, and other choices if your incentive package contains choices. Thanks!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
