Ah, Inktober, the artist challenge where you make a new ink drawing everyday during the month of October. This year, I did it!
Usually, someone on social media makes a prompt list of suggestions. And I'm sure they put a lot of thought into that list...
I ignored them. Because I wanted to draw gods and spirits.
Hi, I'm Kelci Crawford, and this is a relaunch of Gods & Spirits: A Sketchbook on KickStarter!
Why a relaunch? Because the first time around, the goal was a bit too high and the timeline too short. The demand for the book was there – there just needed to be some adjustments.
What's this campaign for? Well I'm looking to put these Gods and Spirits into a sketchbook to sell to backers and convention goers alike.
Now don't worry - these gods and spirits already agreed to get drawn, so I don't have to wrestle them into a book.
Here's the breakdown of what's needed:
- $150 for an ISBN and Barcode
- $95 for printing 20 books
- $130 for shipping to backers
- $140 for miscellaneous or emergency (this goes to KickStarter’s use fee, international shipping, ink cartridges, and/or art supplies used to make commissions)
Rewards include early-bird specials, commissions, and even copies of the previous Inktober book, Witches: A Sketchbook.
There are also prints available:
(Left: "The Forest Spirit." Right: "Buffalo God" limited edition. Both 11x17 inches)
Plus there's a new reward that wasn't in the last campaign: an original 11x17 inch piece of art that comes framed. It's called, "The Horned God," and was the basis for some convention merchandise that's now out of print:
In the initial run of this campaign, stickers were part of the reward structure. This has been changed so stickers are now a stretch goal.
If we make it to our initial goal, extra funding will go towards printing THESE stickers through StickerMule:
In the previous launch, I mentioned that if you were a U.S. citizen and you voted in the midterm elections, you would get a bonus reward in your backer package. I still plan to honor this commitment, so if you voted, send your "I voted" selfie to email@example.com.
As always, Patrons who support me on Patreon will get extras in their packages when they also back this campaign.
This campaign is going to be short, so if you have the means to give, please do so!
If you’re broke, please share this campaign with your friends! Every share helps more than you know.
Thank you very much for checking out this campaign!
You. Are. Awesome.
Risks and challenges
This is a relaunch of a campaign that ran last week - if the goal is not met this second time, I'll consider the project dead and move on to the next one.
That said, if we do meet our goal, awesome!
I've had six successful campaigns before this one, so by now I know what to expect and how quickly to deliver things. But as long as backers reply to their surveys ASAP, their rewards will be sent out sooner - the goal is to get 99% of all rewards sent out before the holidays.
If we reach our goal and then hit our stretch goal, stickers will happen. I have never printed stickers before with StickerMule, but hopefully it won't be too challenging.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
