The Golden Age of Super Heroes didn’t end with a Bang, but with a BITE!
Hello, my name is Henry Lopez and I’d like to give you a new world to play in.
Our latest offering is Rotted Capes, a game where the Golden Age of Super Heroes meets the Zombie Apocalypse with a horrific twist: Super Powered Zombies.
Rotted Capes puts you in the spandex and cape of the so-called B-List super hero trying to save what’s left of humanity and the remaining pockets of civilization after all the primary super heroes and villains fell to the emerging zombie horde. These A-Lister are now either all dead, missing or Z’d.
Z'd means that your former allies, partners and mentors have been horribly mutated and turned into super powered versions of the Risen Dead. This has propelled them to the top of the new food chain and they're looking down at you! These Super Zombies would be dangerous enough with just being able to wield their amazing powers, but the change has allowed them to keep a semblance of their intellect, albeit scrubbed of the ability to distinguish between right and wrong. These Super Zombies are cunning and intelligent; with an overwhelming hunger that impels them to commit foul acts that would leave their former selves aghast.
While Rotted Capes will feature a sample setting, the game itself is designed to give you, the Editor-in-Chief, the greatest amount of flexibility and resources to craft a version of the game that fits you and your group’s play style. Whether you prefer the dark and gritty feel of the Walking Dead, a more tongue in cheek tone or something in between, Rotted Capes gives you the tools necessary to present the game that you and your players want.
Powered by a streamlined and cinematic version of the Origin’s Award winning system used in the Arcanis: World of the Shattered Empires RPG, Rotted Capes is a fast and furious game that allows you to simulate most any action seen in the comics while also introducing a unique player interaction mechanism called Plot Points. Plot Points allow the players to change details in a particular scene to their benefit or detriment, but always with an eye towards making the adventure more exciting.
The manuscript for Rotted Capes is done and has undergone exhaustive play testing; most recently at Origins 2012, where sold out tables played through a Fast Play scenario as well as a full blown 4-hour Con adventure.
Originally envisioned as a Black And White product, we’ve gotten lots of feedback asking us to make Rotted Capes a full color product, the better to recreate that four-color comic book feel.
But color art and printing is not an inexpensive proposition and that’s where you come in. We need your help in turning this fun game into a full color book and we’re prepared to offer some unique and one of a kind rewards to entice you into funding Rotted Capes.
If and when we reach the minimum level needed to fund this project, we have some amazing Stretch Goals including custom dice, adventures, T-Shirts, a Fast Play Rules book, even a prose anthology at the higher levels,and much, much more.

GM Screen (Electronic version). All the charts and info needed to run a Rotted Capes game at your finger tips on one side and a stunning 3-panel running battle scene between the B-Listers and the Super Zombies to get all your players in the spirit of the game! Added to those who pledged Sidekick level or higher.
$15,000 - Map Pack (Electronic version). A set of (no less than) 6 maps showing different scenes and environments in which to set your epic battles. Added to those who pledged Sidekick level or higher.
$19,000 - Ultimate Powers Book (32 page/electronic version). Want more powers or greater details on the powers offered in the Core Book? How about introducing Godlings, Magic-based Heroes or Heroes from another world? This book introduces additional rules to give you and your players greater options. The size of the book is variable and begins as a 32 page electronic edition. Additional Stretch Goals can increase the size to 64 pages or have it released as a printed product. Added to those who pledged B-Lister level or higher.
$21,000 - Adventure #1: A 32 page adventure for Rotted Capes in electronic format. This adventure will either be a stand alone or, should Adventures 2 and 3 be funded, will be linked to form a trilogy of adventures that can be used as a mini-campaign. Added to those who pledged B-Lister level or higher. To be clear, Adventure #1 is different from the "first Rotted Capes" adventure already described in the reward levels.
$23,000 - Adventure #2: A 32 page adventure for Rotted Capes in electronic format. This adventure will either be a stand alone or, should Adventure 3 be funded, will be linked to form a trilogy of adventures that can be used as a mini-campaign. Added to those who pledged B-Lister level or higher.
$25,000 - Adventure #3: A 32 page adventure for Rotted Capes in electronic format. Once funded, this adventure will be linked to Adventures 1 and 2 to form a trilogy of adventures that can be used as a mini-campaign. Added to those who pledged B-Lister level or higher.
If we go higher, there's still more to come including T-Shirts, a Rotted Capes comic book and (something that I personally would love to see) a Rotted Capes anthology.

All backers of the Rotted Capes project will receive the books they pledged towards (the regular edition and the Limited Hardback edition) sometime around December 2012. However, stores that did not participate will receive theirs sometime in either April or May of 2013.
As there is no way to add or alter a Reward level after a project is launched (to my knowledge, at least), I would suggest that you select the higher Reward level and then increase your pledge by $35.00. At the end of the drive, we will review and send out a survey to those with an amount over what was selected. But please, if you desire one of the limited reward levels (such as the Delta Threat Level), select that as your primary reward level and add the amount for the soft back to that.
