Freebooter Kickstarter Campaign Cancelled

Hi everyone,

We have decided to close the Kickstarter and stop the development of Freebooter for the foreseeable future. At the time of writing, we are still at 8% of the Kickstarter goal amount, and we do not see a way to turn things around before the end of the Kickstarter.

We have loved the idea of Freebooter ever since we first discussed it and we have enjoyed working on the game for the past year. We knew it was a very ambitious project from the start and that it would be a long shot to get it made, but we are happy that we have made an attempt.

We would like to thank everyone who have backed the Kickstarter and everyone who has followed Freebooter over the past year. We have been overwhelmed by the attention Freebooter has gotten and we are sorry we could not give you a chance to play it. In the end Freebooter proved too ambitious, but we will keep making games.

Once again, thank you all for your support.

Johannes, Jakob and Nissanthen, Tribunal Games.

      Open sourcing an option?

Canceling with more than half the pledge period left to reach a very achievable goal? Only two small updates since launch, and not a single one for nearly a week? I can't imagine what you were expecting, but I've seen probably a dozen Kickstarter projects with similar progress at this stage of the campaign get over the line with an enthusiastic campaign. In hindsight, it's pretty obvious that you guys were never serious.

Thank you all for the kind words.

We are moving onto smaller projects. We would like to revisit Freebooter if we find ourselves in a financial position to do so.

Thank you all for believing in our project!

That's really sad but I can understand your reasoning. If you decide to have another attempt in the future I'll be second aboard after Peter Martin Best wishes for the future

What a bummer! So will you guys be abandoning this project all together?

Sad news. If you try again, how about making it more settlerish?

This is really really sad news :( I know it is being cheeky, but if you guys decide not to continue development in the future would you consider releasing it under some form of open source license?

Bugger - that is truly sad news... I hope you will return at a later point in a new attempt!!

Well, if you ever have another go at kickstarting it I'll be the first aboard.
