About this project
Medley of Demos for the album!
Mary Bee Bio:
Mary Bee is a singer originally from Rehoboth, MA, originally known as Mary Brierly. There she started her first band, "Aubergine" with her best friends in high school. She then sang in Providence, RI with Ben Pilgrim in his band, "The Free Union" where she was given the nickname "Mary Bee" by Ben himself - it stuck. Mary started her solo project with Producer David Gonzalez, recording her first solo full length release in AS220's Delgado Studio. Following that release she won "Best Female Vocalist" in the Providence Phoenix and was nominated for "Best Live Performance". Mary has performed live on the east and west US coasts, as well as Europe and Central America. She is currently living in Los Angeles, working on her newest album and can often be found dancing around her house to Madonna.

Plans for Funds:
Pay for the studio time to record the first five songs on the new album.
Stretch Plans for Funds over Goal:
If more funds are raised more than the goal then more songs on the album will be recorded sooner.
A Word from Mary:
Hey Everyone! Thanks so much for checking out my Kickstarter! I really appreciate you all taking the time to read this and and be part of the project!
What I want the album to sound like:
I want the album to sound like fun!
My favorite albums's have always been the ones that lift me up on a rough day, or make an average drive home from work feel like you are on your way to the beach with all of your friends from high school - or that makes cleaning your house suck a little bit less. I want to create 30-40 minutes of sound that makes you feel better than you did before - hopefully super awesome!
Life inspirations on this album:
1. My Family - From my Mother who inspires me every single day with her wisdom and positivity, to my Sister who I swear can do anything she tries, to my Father and Brother's 'think outside of the box' mindsets to my brand new baby cousins and nephews that just make me want to write happy excited songs about dancing around in circles and getting dizzy - my family inspires so many of the songs I write I have lost count.
2. Love - I have learned in the last few years that nothing, not even music, is paramount to love. I am so lucky to have the most amazing love in my life and I pray every day that that never changes. This has influenced my music in a very happy happy way :)
3. Learning to lighten up! - I have always loved dark, deep music, and still do, it can be a comfort during hard times and has really been the thing to get me through some hard stuff in the past. But the realization I have had in recent times is that things don't always have to be super serious all the time. The world can be a very dark place and sometimes the only thing that can pull me out of it is a happy tune - that is why I have decided for this album to keep it on the possi-side. I have been trying to write from a place of realizing and counting my blessings and trying to see the good in other people. That does not mean I won't have 'tude from time to time hah - but I have tried to keep that to the minimum :P
President, Record Company In A Box: Mark is an internationally respected music executive and producer with a long history of creating Grammy Award winning records which sold over 40 million copies world-wide. Mark has held positions as Executive VP of A&R at A&M Records and Executive VP and Special Assistant to the Co-Chairman and President of A&M Records. Mark has served as A&R executive for artists including STING, JANET JACKSON, AMY GRANT, DISHWALLA, AARON NEVILLE and as well as JOHN MAYER (Sony/’Room For Squares’ album), ELTON JOHN’s “Made In England” (Rocket/single) and many others.
I could write a book about this guy - in fact, I think he might be! Mark has been working with me for the past year on song selection, lyric revision, production and general A&R on my music. It is so incredibly helpful to have someone with such an amazingly fine tuned ear giving me feedback on what works and what doesn't. I want my album to make a connection with, and be enjoyed by many - Mark helps me think about things from the listeners perspective and and helps me focus my energies into the strongest possible version of my music I can make. Mark has also become a dear dear friend who I have so much love for- I am so thankful that he has come into my life! Read more about Mark here
They always say no matter how far you travel, you always end up coming back home - this was true in a way for me! Anthony is a great friend of mine actually from Massachusetts! He moved out here (LA) as well for a deal his band "On The Surface" got with Universal. He is also a co-owner of Through The Air Studios in Hollywood. I have always LOVED Anthony's music and when we first talked about maybe doing some recording together I was over the moon! He has always made the funnest and sweetest music ever. I can't even tell you all how excited I am that I am working with him. I am a lucky girl!! Read more about Anthony here
David and I have started writing and playing live together this past year and I just love it! He has so much talent as a songwriter and is such a soulful live performer. David has been a part of many great musical projects, most recently the band "The Devil, My Pocket". On top of his musical skills he also is an incredibly skilled actor. David just finished shooting the leading role in a new Independent film "Vitoro" here in Los Angeles. He is slated for another film this summer (as well as many many shows with me :) )
Through The Air Studios
This is seriously my happy place. Never have I felt so comfortable and just plain giddy in a studio before. The vibes at this place are just pure, good people. Friends who care so much about making music that makes people happy. In their own words, Through The Air Studio is "Helping Hollywood’s greatest unseen talent achieve professional grade demos/recordings to help them get their feet off the ground and Through The Air." And did I mention, the cutest puppies ever?!
What the heck have I been doing in LA the last year and a half?!
Writing a lot
With the amazing A&R of Mark Mazzetti - I have been able to narrow down the last 200 or so songs I have written in this time into what will be put on this album!
I have been having a blast playing shows out here, some solo and some with David Air (who I have started a fun side project with! More info on that below).
Working for NARIP!
I have an amazing job at the National Association of Record Industry Professionals (narip.com) where I have been learning SO much about how the business side of music works. I think it is so important to have an understanding of how that all works so you never are relaying on anyone else to understand it for you. I am an artist but I always want to be informed so I can make smart decisions in my career - NARIP has given me that knowledge, and the position to help others learn as well. At this job I have met some of the most awesome, music focused people I could have ever hoped to meet - it is amazing and I am so thankful!
Thank you for checking out my Kickstarter!!
Here are some live videos of songs I have been writing and covering lately. More will be posted soon!

Risks and challenges
The biggest challenge I have found with music has been finding the right people to work with. It took a while when I first got out here but I now have the best team anyone could ask for! These guys are so talented and hard working and they push me to better myself every day. The second challenge is being able to fund this new venture. I am paying for studio time myself and boy does that add up quickly - I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your support!
The risk is that I could make this album and it is not well received. This is a risk that all artists have to take but I believe that if I stay true to myself and write from my heart, that it will touch those who it is supposed to and find its place in the world.
I have pasted some links to videos of my past work anyone who is unfamiliar:
