I originally started as a Women's Wear designer with a formal education from F.I.T. Fast forward to many years later to when I rescued a badly beaten dog I would name Bandit Rubio in 2003. I soon realized that Bandit, a Chihuahua would tremble a lot when I would walk him. So I started to make stylish clothing, like no other, for him and soon after for other dogs. By late 2004, it was a full fledged business and I've been very fortunate to have my art covered by major media publications through out the world.
Advocacy + Philanthropy = Limitless Accomplishments
Over the years, I have donated my services to various Galas, Balls, Auctions, Fundraisers of well respected Pet Charity organizations and shelters which have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars if not into the millions combined. I've been honored by The Humane Society along with others organizations
As an Animal Advocate, I speak for those who have no voices. I've created catch phrase, “Adopt Me Maybe?” adopt a shelter pet campaign. I started this campaign in an effort to promote shelter pet adoption verses buying a pet in a store. I have also been part of other organization campaigns such as "The Shelter Pets Project" where I would dress dogs, in shelters, in my designs in an effort to get them adopted. With everything thing I've done, I have always included homeless animals in need via a collaboration with rescue groups and pet shelters.
In My World The Humans Are The Accessories
Since being invited to present my canine fashions as the first ever pet designer in the history of New York Fashion Week I have had to create Women's wear to coordinate with the Canine fashions. I like to remind everyone that the canines are the real models and the humans are the accessories.
Every season, I partner up with animal shelters and animal organizations to include dogs that are up for adoption in these shows. It's not just having these dogs on the runway, it's also about getting exposure for the animal rescue organizations by telling the stories of the pets they have rescued. I've had dogs on my runway that were rescued from kill shelters, abandoned on the beaches in Puerto Rico, rescued from Yulin Dog Meat Festival in China, hoarder situations and more. If I were to show these dogs when they were first rescued, people would look away, but if I dressed them up in glamorous attire that would give the dog a personally, the people might stop and maybe adopt or help. I am very proud to say that this idea has brought great success with these rescues finding forever homes and families.
Most recently, I have also included service dogs from The Guide Dog Foundation/ America's Vets and have personally sponsored guide dogs to be gifted to those in need.
This coffee table book, which can only come to life with your backing will be 200 pages with dimensions 9.4 x 1.1 x 12.1 inches. I have hundreds if not thousands of images of my designs from the past 14 years that would easily fill a book. Those photos are already on my website or social media, but I want this book to be 90% filled with new images, Which is why I picked 5 extraordinary photographers, each with unique point of view. The book will be released in February, 2019.
In the past, the photo shoots of my designs would feature a mixture of the dogs of my clients, dogs that are looking for their forever homes and your favorite social media pups. With the Canine Couture (working title) book I will include dogs from the various shelters I've work with. I will tell their stories and seek new shelters to partner with.
Here is your chance to have your four-legged family member immortalized being photographed in one of my designs to have that photo appear in the book. We have photo shoots planned throughout the Summer of 2018 in New York City and a 4 day shoot set up in Los Angeles, CA in early August. I will pick the design for each dog that goes with my vision. I personally create each and every design. Depending on when you pledge, you may be able to pick the photographer of your preference to photograph your dog. I recommend that you consider a second choice because we anticipate fast bookings and selections will be made on a first come first serve basis. Dogs of all breeds and sizes are welcome.
Let's come together to make this book happen! The target goal is the minimum needed to have a limited amount printed. The more funds raised, the more copies of the book can be printed. If we far exceed the target goal we can add more pages, and add photo shoots in Toronto and Miami, add a photo shoot with female models and Canine models together and even a release party.

Meet The Photographers Shooting For This Book
Photographer Tammy Swarek
Fine Arts photographer Tammy Swarek is based in Arkansas and has photographed homeless animals for UCAPS (Union County Animal Protection Society) in El Dorado, AR for a some years. One day, my designs caught her attention and she inquired of me if I would join the pet adoption awareness campaign 'The Shelter Pets Project' in which they would have dogs that are in shelters and up for adoption as models. Without hesitation, I said 'Yes' and created The Matador collection for the dogs. It's a series of different Matador outfits featuring replicas of what are known as "Suits of Lights". I shipped the collection, including hats to Tammy. Once the photographs were released, the press picked up on the project and all the dogs involved were quickly adopted. The series has been feautred in Vanity Flair Italia, The Guardian and Italian Vogue. We have worked together on the project over the last two years with much success raising needed revenue for the shelter.
For the Canine Couture book, Tammy will fly to New York City and stay for a limited engagement to photograph the dogs whose owners pledged for her name.
If you would like your dog to wear Anthony Rubio Designs and be photographed by Tammy Swarek to have that photo appear in the book, be sure to pledge to the reward with her name.

Photographer David Ayllon
Welcome David Ayllon.
This book project will be the first time we'll be working together, which is why we don't have any pictures by David of my designs to show. As you can see by the photo above and two below, David has a unique eye with vivid colors and I am excited to collaborate with him on this project.
David Ayllon is a photographer, graphic designer, and superhero aficionado. Ayllon first discovered his love of larger than life characters during his childhood on Long Island, where he found himself preoccupied with fantastical worlds served up by comic books & professional wrestling. As a queer Latino, Ayllon’s fascination with persona grew from adolescent escapism into a process of examining gender, personal history, and self-expression through his photography & design. By collaborating with noted personalities from the drag community, Ayllon creates dynamic narrative portraits that explore nostalgia and identity through the lens of artifice, urban fantasy, and pop-culture. In 2017, Ayllon designed a range of enamel pins for StrangeWays.com, which are once again available after selling out within their first week of release. His photography has been featured in the Harvey Milk Photo Center, as well as in the pages of such publications as Paper Magazine, Huffington Post, OUT Magazine, Next Magazine (cover), and more. His work honored with such award as the 2017 PDN Faces competition (first place), 2016 Rangefinder Seeing the Light competition, as well as the 2009 IAC award for Best Design Website. A graduate of Seaton Hall University with a B.A. in Graphic Design, Ayllon is currently completing the final year of his MFA from Savannah College of Art & Design.
For the Canine Couture book, David will photographed the dogs that pledged to his name in New York with photo shoot(s) in mid-August 2018.
If you would like your dog to wear Anthony Rubio Designs and be photographed by David Ayllon and have that photo be in the book, be sure to pledge to the reward with his name.

Risks and challenges
We have been working on this project for a year. I have my ideas in place for the garments. My two hands create all the canine couture. I have been creating the outfits since January. All photographers have cleared their schedules to photograph for the book. I have talked and been advised by other creators, all of whom have had books published. We have price quotes from two well known printers. We gave ourselves a cushion just in case. The book should be in our hands in February 2019.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
