About this project
Simply put, Con Season is a documentary reality show that invites the viewers to all the shows Blind Ferret attends through-out the year. There's tons of footage out there showing what cons are like, but nothing from the other side of the table. Cons are a world all their own with a wonderful, unique culture that we are proud to be a part of. What we're doing is showing people what a convention is like from our point of view and giving them some insight from seasoned Con Vets. There's panels, shenanigans, problems, fans galore, cosplay and regular Joe's, after con parties, and especially, a more intimate and closer look at what it is Blind Ferret does.
The Digital Download will only have the original 8 minute episodes. The DVD and BluRay will have the full 22 minute episodes. The final season will be 8 episodes with a ton of bloopers and extras stuffed in there for good measure.
We are Blind Ferret and we go to conventions. A lot of them. And they are all over the place. 12-15 times a year we pack up, say goodbye to our loved ones and hop in plane to cities near and far. Why do we do this? Because of you. We love you and we want to meet you and we want you to meet us because we are pretty damn cool.
That didn't answer much did it? We are a tight-knit family of comic writers, artists and the support staff that keep the machine running. We do "Looking for Group", "Least I Could Do", "Gutters", "Girls With Slingshots", "Hijinks Ensue", "Something Positive" and "Goblins".
Who else will be there?
We need your help to finish Con Season! The filming is done. We filmed at Emerald City Comic Con, Calgary Expo, San Diego Comic Con, Gen Con, Fan Expo, and New York Comic Con this year and now we need to take all that footage and turn it into watchable episodes. We will need proper equipment to edit the show (read a ton of man-hours), a large amount of colour adjustments, mix the sound, and, most importantly, pay the staff to do all this. On top of that we will need to pay the production costs for the DVDs and the BluRays.
Curious about what the Limited Edition movie posters looks like? Check it out:
Pretty sweet, eh! Each one will be hand numbered and signed by the whole Blind Ferret team.
If we hit the $100,000 mark, Sohmer is going to finish the "This is War" animation from the LFG movie. The rough animation was put on Youtube and when work on the movie stalled, this bad boy was shelved. I've gotten him to promise (read sign in blood) that the "This is War" animation will be completed by May 1st, 2013 if not sooner. We'll post it for the Backers first and then we'll upload it to Youtube for all to see and enjoy.
Here's the link to the rough version in case you forgot or have no idea what I'm talking about: http://youtu.be/nFdLtoKQ7HU
As the questions start to add up, we'll fill this space with answers.
Risks and challenges
As with any project, there are certain challenges that can arise to derail you. Files can be deleted, products can be held-up at customs, computers can be shot with crossbows (This one actually happened. Sorry Alex.). We are going to keep everyone in the loop by updating often and replying to comments and questions as quickly as possible.
We will do everything within our power to meet our launch deadline and, if for whatever reason we are delayed, we will communicate with our Backers every step of the way.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
