Another month, another update...

Hi, Chris here. So, where does time go? It's May 2014, Alpha 4.0 is around the corner and Premium Beta is around the very next corner - excited yet? It doesn't seem like over a year since we all raised the money together to create the Anthology - and what a journey it's been! It all started without knowing who (or if) anyone would be able to write anything, and we're rapidly closing in on the release date of our professionally published and printed, fully illustrated books, e-books and an audiobook (the audiobook won't be illustrated because I really don't know how we'd do that - but to even things up, the e-book and print versions won't have sound.)

All I know is, that our glorious mission must have rattled the higher ups in the establishment, because last week, they tried to kill me.

Fortunately, the assassination failed, but it has hampered my update writing duties - so without further ado, I shall pass you onto the very capable Rose Thurlbeck for the rest of the news!

Genesis

"In the beginning was the word, and the word was E L I T E.

And Michael said 'Let there be procedurally generated light,' and 400 billion stars sparked into existence.

Now that Michael could see the word, he thought that it was good. And Michael said 'let there be procedural worlds, of various sizes from small, rocky planetoids and asteroids to gas supergiants and failed stars.' And lo, the Milky Way (for such it was) was populated with planets and those planets in turn with moons in their size, and even unto those larger moons Michael gave them moons also.

Then Michael breathed upon this galaxy so that those planets and moons of large enough mass and magnetic field should hold an atmosphere even unto the solar wind of the brightest stars. And he saw that it was good and stopped for a coffee.

And then he took the book, the book of books, the Book Of Names and read from that book the Names of All Things so that each star, planet, moon and mote of dust could be catalogued and mapped.

'Soon' is the word of Brookes"

Want our anthology? We've got it covered.

A few days ago, our fantastic new cover art was revealed to the world, and here it is if you missed it:

Tales From The Frontier - Official Cover

Check out Commander Dan's Video Reveal or head over to Fantastic Books on Facebook to see the rest of the covers that will make up the best boxed set in the history (and indeed the future) of game based fiction.

The anthology is coming (soon!)

Spring is in the air - a time of growth and renewal, bouncing lambs chasing the season's first butterflies, Elite: Dangerous Premium Beta...

...and finally you get to read our stories.

On the 30th of May, Fantastic Books Publishing (FBP) will begin the release of their Fantastic Elite Fiction e-books to Kickstarter backers.

This will include our Anthology: Tales From The Frontier

If you backed our kickstarter at the 'early release' level, you will get your e-book of the Anthology up to a week before anyone else.

You should have received and completed your backers survey by now, because if you haven't, you'll end up getting your copy late!

We're more than a little nervous about all of this. Excited and nervous. Apart from ourselves and the people at FBP, we've had no real readers. So once you've read and (hopefully) enjoyed our Tales, we need a favour from you: please spread the word - write reviews on Amazon and Goodreads.com, tweet about us - the success of this project lies in our being able to sell our book, and the best way to do that is with happy readers' recommendations.

This is no vanity project. None of the Fantastic books are. We really want people to read our stories, and you can help with that - find us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/EliteAnthology - come and say hello, tell us what you think, ask us questions. Talk to us on Twitter @EliteAnthology. Remember the first rule of the Elite Anthology: tell everyone about the Elite Anthology!

Also remember our website at www.elite-anthology.co.uk where you can find out more about the authors and stories, and if you like, leave us an encouraging little comment if you've enjoyed them!

Publication is coming

We are so close to Publication, we can smell the ink on the printer's apron. A few folk have asked when the print versions of the book will be forthcoming - and the answer is soon.  We should have more news in our next update.

What we do know, is that you should definitely have your printed books in time for....

Fantasticon

Taking place at the Royal Mercure Hotel, Hull on the 16th of August - this will be the official launch party for the set of Fantastic Books. There will be authors aplenty, there will be Commander Dan escorted by Administrator Milly, there will quite probably be some of the folk from Frontier Developments, and there will be the Toby Longworth and Penelope MacDonald of Elite Audibook fame.... and that's not even everything - there will even be a dalek, so prepare to be afraid (or go upstairs) - prepare for Fantasticon!

Check out the official Fantasticon Facebook page which has more details of what you can expect... Of course there will be mucho Elite: Dangerous, and a chance to check it out on the Oculus Rift.

Grab one of Hull's hottest tickets, right this way!

(And of course, don't forget LaveCon)

That's it for another update, now, prepare yourself for Bootes Camp!

Until Next Time,

Rose Thurlbeck & The rest of the Anthologists.
