Author Introductions: Ramon Marett (Also: Out of the Darkness)

Good evening!

I'd like to introduce you to another of our authors today, Ramon Marrett. Before I do that though, I'm going to be all community minded and promote somebody else's book.

Out of the Darkness, By T James

This Kickstarter is currently at £3,834 from £5,000 with a little over 2 days to go.  I've signed up for a copy - and if you can spare it, please send a little his way and help the final push over the line.  Everything about more books being funded is great for the future of Elite: Dangerous.

Right now, it puts another £4,500 into the main Kickstarter and helps us all get the game we've all been wanting to play for many years.  Once the game is ready, each and every official book or story enriches the universe for existing players by offering them new stories about places they can actually visit in game.  It might also bring new people into the game, should they be unaware of it and discover the books first.  Let's call that last bit "target practice"... :-)

Anyway, here's Ramon:

Tell us a little bit about yourself?

I'm 35 years old and been working in the advertising industry since my 20s. I've travelled the world and climbed the highest active volcano in the world. I crave excitment and adventure so I'd never make it as a Jedi.

When did you first discover the Elite games?

The old man brought home a copy for the BBC.

What's your favourite Elite memory?

Difficult question, but I think probably the first time another Cobra Mk3 came and helped me out and then flew off again on the Archimedes version of Elite (the best one). It made the game real, it didn't feel like it was just AI helping me out.

Have you written before or is this a fresh challenge? What made you back the project?

Written before yes, but usually just 30 second or 1 minute commercials. This'll be a bit of a challenge but the theory is the same ;)

Do you know what you want to write a story about?

At the request of his co-pilot the captain of an Asp Explorer smuggles firearms to a world ravaged with war and spends the next two years fighting a conflict he has no reason to be part of.

What one thing most excites you about Elite: Dangerous? Something that's already been revealed or some feature you're secretly hoping for?

Exploration.

I backed both projects, if all the backers of one of this projects helped the other, I´m sure both would meet their goals. If they haven´t, I guess they don´t know about the other one.

Hi, Chris. Thanks for mentioning the Out of the Darkness Kickstarter. It's moving forward, but we still have a way to go and any promotion helps.

I wish all the writers for Tales from the Frontier a Merry Christmas, and all the best for the funding of your project and inspiration for your stories. It's a great idea for a project and a collection of so many voices contributing their visions of the Elite universe should be a great read.
