JZ here. I started Stash Yarns five years ago to bring great yarns to my local community, and folks have really responded. We've helped literally thousands of people in the Philly burbs knit and crochet mountains of stuff:
Some people go big:
And some projects are just plain fun:
All of these projects were made with yarns from our shop, but I began to wonder, where were they from before that?? The short answer is, nowhere nearby.
In fact, most yarn comes from places like China and Turkey, which costs American jobs and compromises human rights. And importing the yarn to U.S. distributors who then ship it out to yarn shops all across the country creates more carbon emissions that damage our environment.
It was time for a better way, and since we couldn't find one, we're creating one!
Working with a family run fourth generation fiber mill right here in Pennsylvania, we're creating our own brand of all natural yarns. Our first product, Stash Select, is a blend of luxury fibers that will be available in 20 fabulous colors.
And because it's made locally, we're saving local jobs AND helping the planet. YOU can help, too!
We need to raise $6200 in the next 30 days to make Stash Select a reality. We've come up with some cool rewards to thank you for your support, so please fund this awesome project in whatever amount you can, and please share our campaign with your friends and neighbors.
We support kicking it forward!
Risks and challenges
A brand new product in any market can face an uphill battle to become established with customers. To overcome this, we have arranged for several popular knitwear designers to create original patterns exclusively for our new yarn.
We don't foresee delivery issues (if the yarn is ready, we can always go pick it up!), and production is expected to be 4-6 weeks. That timeframe perfectly hits the sweet spot of the beginning of the busy fall and winter knitting season.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
