40 Years of Metamorphosis Alpha, installment #1
Greetings from Gen Con! It’s been a great opening day. Thanks to everyone who came by to get their “Captain” badge – the show of support for Epsilon City is terrific. And it’s been nice to see the look on fans’ faces as they see how many Metamorphosis Alpha products are available. A year ago, all we had to show were printer proofs. Today, we have a dozen products!
As you may know, Epsilon City is timed to release with the 40th anniversary of Metamorphosis Alpha. To mark this milestone, we asked Mr. James M. Ward to share some of his favorite memories of the game. Here is the first installment for your enjoyment.
Gary Gygax, his son Ernie, and his son Luke used to love to play Metamorphosis Alpha with me as a Game Master. Gary didn’t get to play much as a player and enjoyed the change. They were all on a desert level of the starship Warden and found a robotic controlled supply station. Gary decided he wanted some strength increasing drugs and he asked the robots for them. I will never forget the expression on his face when the robots asked him back, “How many metric tons do you want?” This is one of my fondest gaming memories.
