Books are here at Gary Con!

Posted by Goodman Games (Creator)

Hi everyone, we are on site at Gary Con and the print copies of How To Write Adventure Modules That Don't Suck are here! And they turned out great. The foil cartoons on the cover really show up great in person -- these photos won't properly capture the gold shimmer. But what the heck, here are some photos anyway! If you're at Gary Con, come by the booth to get your copies. If you're not at Gary Con, this is a preview of what you will eventually see! These photos show a couple copies of the book with dust jacket, the book with dust jacket removed, Doug's awesome endsheets, the back cover, and a random page spread.

@Lisa Franke - Lisa, I see that a survey was completed for you. I'm going to lock your pledge level down now. If you didn't complete the survey, please let us know so we can look into what's occurred. Thanks!

@Lisa Franke - Lisa, please email me at and we will help get this resolved with you.

Hey Backers, Jon "Tacojohn" Hershberger here:

We are starting the initial testing of the digital rewards distribution. Since this is MY first rodeo with Backer Kit (not Goodman's, MY first personal rodeo with Backer Kit), we wanted to do a test distribution of a small sample of backers to make sure everything works the way we think it will.

A very small sample of backers have been sent an email outlining the test distribution. If you receive an email from me (it'll come from tacojohndm at blah blah blah), it means you're in the select sample group.

There should be an overall project update coming out very soon (sometime over the weekend) that will outline the process for retrieving your digital rewards, including a walk thru with screen shots.

With a little luck, we'll plunge into the release of all digital rewards in the next couple of days.

Hi! Can you please help me get the survey or some other way to claim my book? I wasn't able to get the survey because I had no working email to receive it on. I'm happy to create a new email account just for this; can you please help me get this resolved?

Hi everyone, the PDF delivery date is posted on the pledges with the main KS page: May. We just might beat that.

    9. Eric Nelson on

@Brian, they mentioned in previous updates that the Almanac printing would not be completed before Gary Con.

    10. Eric Miles

      Nice, looks fantastic!

It would be nice for the project to respond, I'm also looking for my PDFs.

But I noticed something. Unless I missed something, we are only seeing pictures of HTWAMTDS physical (beautiful) copies and not the Almanac.

I wonder if The Adventure's Almanac isn't ready for its runway debut?

      briefly echoing the others...PDFs?

So... People can buy a print copy before those of us who backed the project get our PDF and print copies?

    14. Colm Doyle

      That is gorgeous!

Wow. The dichotomy of the hard cover and the feeling that oh so recognizable softcover pattern instantly evokes/illicit a feeling of a lifetime of a maturing evolution to me... I don't know if it will ever work again, but it really does for the moment. It's really working for me... of course I wallow in doodle art all day... maybe that's it. I don't think it would have the same effect on me in soft cover, still great looking, but different (more of a natural feel a subject book might give till you crack it open and POW professional layout in your face...) #IPlayAnArtCriticOnline

In case it didn't convey I am looking forward to a nice quiet read with a physical book.

Ditto on the PDF question - if books exist, the PDF must be done.

Will these be shipping concurrently with the Judges Guild books, or will one Kickstarter ship before the other?

I doubt the shipping package or software would allow it, but backers who supported both getting them together would be nice, and save you all a little money.

      Wow guy... it's gorgeous!!! :D

Hey! Looks fantastic. Covers are both cool and the inside layout looks nice, too. I don't have room on my shelves for books anymore (moving too much these last few years), but I'm looking forward to the PDF. I'm planning out the next arc for my campaign so this will come in handy, I'm sure.

Did I miss getting my PDF's

Ian put out the same question I have. I mean if you are able to make print copies why aren't the PDFs available yet?

Hey. When do we get the PDFs? I didn't order a paperback.
