Hello Fellow Story Tellers!

I love stories. Stories have the power to change us, make us think. Stories hold within them the ability to inspire us, to show us pictures of what life could and should be. Jesus used stories to change the world, telling tales that reached in the hearts of the hearers to show truth, understanding and inspire redeeming transformation. My love for stories is actually one of the main components to me pursuing my dream of becoming an actor (a story teller). But when I first moved to LA, I didn’t see very many of the stories that I was so passionate about telling, appear on the screen or even in the lives of the people I was surrounded by. I didn’t see the stories of virtue, redemption and love being told. Instead I saw a culture pursuing self love and addicted to fame, money and sex. I saw stories of loneliness, hurt, scars, devastation and bitterness unfolding on my TV screen and in the lives of the people around me.

So much so that I eventually found myself gradually sliding away from the ideals I once held so close into the confusing effects of entitled living and selfish desires. Before long I wound up stuck in a place where I didn’t have the ability to find my way out on my own.

It was then that I remembered the stories that I had come here to tell. The stories reminded me of who I was. With the help of a grace-filled God and a loving family, I remembered who I was called to be. I remember one of the first steps I took on the path back to the man God wanted me to be. It was the day that I sat down and opened a book my mom had sent me, it was a study on the story of the prodigal son. As I read over its pages and looked at the story Jesus had told, I suddenly felt as if Jesus had been telling this story about me. I felt that the steps the prodigal son had taken to find his “independence” and “freedom” had actually been mine, and that the lost young man who was having to deal with the consequences of his actions was me. I had been the prodigal.

Then, I began to look and listen to the stories of people around me, and it suddenly occurred to me that I was in a city full of prodigals. Not bad or evil, just lost and looking for a home... most of the time in the wrong places.

The story of the prodigal son is a story that touches us all (or at least most). You might be the one who knows the prodigal (son, daughter, husband, wife, friend) and have been waiting, hoping and praying that they will just come home. Or you might BE the prodigal- lost, broken, living a life in separation from who you are meant to be. No matter who you are, this is a story about you.

I remember that after two years of hoping to land an acting role in ANYTHING with a message that I could get behind (one of truth, unconditional love, and integrity), there was another weekend of seeing yet another movie filled with mixed messages. I woke up the next morning to the gentle stirring of God pushing me to tell a story- a story that would stand as a beacon of light in the midst of so much darkness.

It didn’t take long for me to realize that I was supposed to tell the story of the prodigal son, the story of a Father calling his child home, a story that had the ability to touch anyone who had ever longed for redemption or hungered for their Maker's embrace. So I sat down in my bedroom in North Hollywood, right in front of my old MacBook, and after three weeks of writing, I sat back in my desk chair and looked at my finished script: a modern, coming of age retelling of the prodigal son, ready to be told to a modern generation in dire need of hearing a message of redemption.

Now all that is left is for the story to be told.

This is where you come in. To make a movie, especially one of quality that can shine as a beacon in this culture, you need: people, equipment, cameras, lights, food, computers, locations, actors and countless unlisted details. I have the passion to make this project happen, but I need help.

So... I would ask you to think and pray about getting involved.

-Pray about jumping on board your chance to be a part of making a movie that can stand out, and make a difference.

-Ask yourself if you want to have a hand in the making of a film that in a time where so much mediocrity and darkness rules the screens, could make a positive difference and draw people to redemption.

-Empower yourself, and us, to make a film that reflects all of the ideals, standards and messages you have spent your life following.

Just knowing that I have your support means the world to me, and it could ultimately mean the redemption of someone's soul and their return home. Even ten dollars would help.

So please, I urge you, if you feel a tug at all on your heart to get involved and be the reason this movie gets made and this message gets out, DO.

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter

As I started this project, I had no idea how much making a movie would actually cost. As I looked at everything from renting the cameras that are quality enough to make a quality movie, to the lighting, to the entire crew, to paying for locations and props and food, It blew my mind.
The beginning stages can be daunting, especially when you realize how many people it actually takes to make a worthy project happen. There are always scary risks, but that is where faith comes in! So, I know that if this movie is supposed to be made, no cost will keep it from coming to completion!

The trailer you see above, (aside from two filler shots) was shot in ONE day by volunteers from church, professional actors who believed in this project, and friends who just wanted to be a part of this story.

I would love for you to be a part of making this story come to life with us.
