Die Falle and Solitaire Stretch Goal Announced for $22,000 -Unlocked!
Yeah! You all have been very patient with us. Now we are going to announce a series of stretch goals.First up are the Die Falle and Solitaire scenarios. This includes a scenario booklet and the Die Falle Force Cards (one German and one Soviet) As we wrote in the original campaign...
Three days, seven battles, one winner. A Kickstarter exclusive linked campaign. Players fight three battles per day, on three different sections of the map, choosing in secret where to commit small, medium, and large numbers of their forces. At the end of the day, the counters remain in place, and the players once again choose their commitments for the second day. Again, the results of the battles are permanent, the counters remaining in the positions they held at the end of the day. On the third and final day, there is the ultimate struggle for the ENTIRE map. Kickstarter exclusive, includes scenario booklet and OOB card.
Also included are the three, semi-linked solitaire scenarios that Mark H. Walker designed for the original game. Can't find a gaming buddy or buddette at 4AM? Then these scenarios are for you.
When we smash through the $22K mark everyone entitled to stretch goals will get this scenario booklet and Die Falle Force Cards. If you have already pledged, help your cause by spreading the word in forums, on Facebook, and through Instagram and Twitter. Thanks!
Old School Tactical arrived in our warehouse in June of 2016, by August it was sold out. It’s been crazy, but crazy good. In a world of two-million dollar Kickstarter games and titles with thousands upon thousands of ratings on BoardGameGeek, distributors didn’t want to talk to a little company in Virginia. But you guys said “screw the distributors” and bought Old School Tactical right off our website. Fantastic! We thank you. The bad part, however, of being sold out is that you are sold out (Duh!). So now we are back, hat in hand, to ask for your help in funding a reprint.
Why fund us? A few reasons. First off, you’ll get a cheap, damn cheap, copy of one of the hottest wargames of 2016. Secondly, you’ll get it now. This is a reprint, not a second edition, so the game is ready, proofed, and at the printers. Thirdly we are throwing in some nice Kickstarter exclusives, and finally, you’ll get one great game, which brings us to…
As we have written before, OST is the first in a dynamic series of fresh, tactical wargames. But WAIT! It IS a great game, an accessible game, easy to learn, easy to master, but have you heard about the maps? 31" x 41" big. That's huge. And the counters are .75" to almost a full inch square, nice and thick so that they are easy to pick up. Bottom line, the components are top notch. But, don't believe us, listen to renowned reviewer Kevin Kitchens. This is what you'll get in the base game reprint AND any stretch goals or bonuses we unlock.
And the game? OST simulates, through an easily-learned game system, small unit engagements on the Eastern Front during 1941-42. Two players contest each scenario using counters representing the soldiers, guns, and vehicles that fought these desperate battles. On each turn play goes back and forth between the sides as Impulse Points are spent to enable a player's forces to act. When the battle is over, casualty and victory points are tallied and a victor is declared. them. All in 16 pages of rules.
Please help us put the game back in stock.
Want to learn how to play?Let's listen to what Marco Arnaudo says about Old School Tactical.
We are striving to keep your shipping costs down, but this is a huge game. Just the base game weighs over 8 pounds! We are keeping our shipping Euro, Canadian, and Australian friendly, as packages for those areas will be shipped from within the areas, thus limiting the customs charges.
About Flying Pig Games
Games are my life. They have been since I was nine and played my first game of Avalon Hill's venerable Gettysburg. I love playing games (just check out the whopping 61 Kickstarters that I've backed), I love making games, and I love making a living doing it. Kickstarter has given the small crew at Flying Pig Games the opportunity to make high-quality exciting games. We won't squander that opportunity. We will keep making them as long as your generous backing allows us. Thank you.
Risks and challenges
This is our sixth Kickstarter, but that isn't the whole story. I've been involved in dozens of successful projects in my gaming and writing life, publishing over 95 games, novels, magazines, and short stories in my 13 year career. Make no mistake, each one is a challenge, but each challenge has been overcome. Publishing isn't easy, but I promise that if you pledge for this Old School Tactical REPRINT you will get your game, and I believe you'll love it.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Yes, it is! Shayne has done such a good job with it.
Yes there could be stretch goals, but if we do go there they will not be anything that slows the game's delivery. I promise you that. In other words, it would be really easy to add a brand new map, sheet of counters, and scenarios as either a pledge level or stretch goal. No doubt that could bring in thousands of dollars if not tens of thousands... but it would also take us 3-5 months to design, test, and print that stretch goal, so we won't do that.
Absolutely, the game is very solitaire friendly.
1. Tigers et al are on the Stalingrad sheet. That was the easiest way to get gamers their tanks.
2. Jacksons et al are on the Vol 2 countersheet. We may put some with paratroopers, but that will just be icing on the cake.
Let's cross that bridge when we get to it. First we need to reach 25K, right?
If we reach a stretch goal, such as the Luck Cards, that were not in the original VOL I Kickstarter, I will make it available to any VOL I backers.... if not as a pledge at least as a special email offer.
At this late date, we won't be adding that as part of the campaign. Most of this material, such as the Stalingrad expansion, is available from our website already.
