One day in the land of Goatopia, a group of unknown heroes appeared through a blinding flash in the sky. They wore fancy armor and wielded powerful weapons. The Goatopians looked on as the outsiders clashed in battle with one another. These beings were at war, and they brought their fight to the peaceful world of Goatopia. As the battles waged on, the Goatopians began to take sides and fight with the heroes. Striving for an end to the war, they became BattleGoats!
BattleGoats is a War-style card game where players alternate turns in card battle to determine a winner using the highest number value. Number values change as the game goes on. The person with the last card in play wins. Rules are easy to pick up and games play in as little as 5-30 minutes for groups of 2-6 players.
Update: We've hit our funding goal! To show our continued support for our backers, we are adding a set of Stretch Goals that will unlock additional cards that every backer will get included with their game!
We're close to unlocking the 2nd Community Goat which means another card for all backers!
Each player gets a random Hero and recruits an army of goats to battle with.
To build an army, all players are dealt 8 additional cards from the deck at random. Any remaining cards are set aside and not used for that game.
With 9 cards in hand, each player lays them out face down in a 3x3 pattern to set up their battlefield.
The player that finishes laying their battlefield out the fastest gets to choose who attacks first.
To attack, select one of your cards, then choose any one of your opponent’s cards.
Both cards are flipped over and the higher number after any modifiers wins. Special abilities or modifiers are shown on the bottom of each card.
If the numbers are equal, both cards are defeated.
After the attack is finished, the losing card is discarded and the winning card flips back over, then it is the next players turn.
The player with the last card in play wins.

BattleGoats has gone through extensive testing from hundreds of players and thousands of games, including demo and blind play tests at the Gem State Gaming Convention and Protospiel San Jose, and we'll be at PAX East demoing in the tabletop area all weekend.
Hundreds of players were asked to rate BattleGoats anonymously on a scale of 1-5, and the results were overwhelmingly positive:

Easy to Learn - 4.65
Original - 4.34
Well Paced - 4.59
"it’s a unique experience, and it’s just an all around great game for anyone. 9/10"- Joseph Nicholas, Indietabletop

Santiago has been working on the artwork for months and we're down to only a few finishing touches and final characters.
Now it's time to produce the game. The funds from this campaign will allow us to take our print-n-play game to a real print run and get the amazing artwork put onto real card stock along with the highest quality polypropylene deck box we can get.
We've played cards for years and we know the importance of high quality cards and boxes, so rather than starting at a lower goal and hoping to upgrade via stretch goals, we are aiming high and putting everything we can in to make BattleGoats the best it can be. PrintNinja will be handling the printing of BattleGoats and has been working with us for months to ensure the quality of our game.
Risks and challenges
While this is our first Kickstarter, we've done large scale printing before with CardLords Tokens for the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game, so we know some of the hurdles that can come our way. Our funding goal is low enough to allow us to fund a minimum print run while ensuring maximum quality.
Printing and shipping time are roughly 4-6 weeks each, and we'll need 3-4 weeks after the Kickstarter ends to finish the artwork that is part of the campaign. We are giving ourselves a buffer time to ensure we can get BattleGoats out to the players without any disappointments from delays.
We never discount that the unexpected can happen. We will do everything we can to minimize the possible risks, and should any issues or delays arise, we will notify backers immediately.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
