About this project
This project has been a personal endeavor for the past three years of my life and is finally nearing a conclusion! After becoming an official selection of NINE international film festivals and winning a Honolulu Film Award, Greenwashers is finally ready to come out on DVD! That is, only with your help! For the goal of distribution, duplication, and further promoting, it is time that viewers can own a piece of this project and help it get out to the world- and this can only happen if we reach the kickstarter goal 100% (otherwise the film sadly gets nothing!). So take a look at the films accomplishments and if you like what you see, please join in the ownership of this project!
Greenwashers is a satirical documentary that blurs the line between green and greed, truth and believability, environmentalism and marketing. Misleading consumers about the environmental benefits has become a new marketing standard and Greenwashers takes this practice to the extreme. Following a pair of Greenwashers, the film illustrates the various strategies, sins, and consequences of greenwash.
As a mash-up of real commercials, live events, examples, and both real and fictional characters, this documentary will lead you through a twisting green labyrinth of misdirection. Just enjoy the journey!
At just under an hour in length, this film needs your help in coming out onto DVD and reaching viewers and consumers alike! The last three years of my life have been spent on this project which started as an MFA thesis! Now you can have a hand in helping finish this as it deserves!
Bret Malley grew up just outside of YosemiteNational Park. This fact has shaped all aspects of his life and art practice. With a film degree from University of California Santa Cruz and an MFA in Computer Art from SyracuseUniversity, Bret creates multi-media works that are environmentally focused and often barbed with humor.
