Two photographers will ride bicycles 30,000 miles, through 50+ countries to document the geography of youth.
The Geography of Youth is a fresh, documentary photography project promoting global connections and understanding within the next generation. Alan and Morrigan's sense of adventure, devotion to bicycle advocacy, environmental responsibility, and love of storytelling through photography will propel them as they serve as our tour guides, sharing with us through vivid images what it means to be a young adult in today's ever-changing world.
We (Alan and Mo) will set out in July of 2011 from Fairbanks, Alaska to ride our bicycles 30,000 miles around the world. We will use photographs to tell the story of what it means to be in your twenties in more than 50 countries and share those stories (as well as stories about daily life on the road) through digital postcards on http://www.geographyofyouth.org.
The entire project will take more than three continuous years of riding and photographing, and the money we raise here on Kickstarter will take us through the first three regions (16 countries through North, Central, and South America). We will keep our costs as low as we can by tenting and staying with families when possible. Any additional funds we raise will help us to tackle Africa, Oceania, Asia, Scandinavia, Europe and the Middle East!
For more information about the project, including a detailed map, please check out our website: http://www.geographyofyouth.org.
Your contribution will help us to pedal our way over countless mountains (physical and metaphorical). Just knowing that you've got our backs and want to see this project completed, whether you've donated $1 or $10,000, means so much to us. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.
