Well, the time has come my fellow backers! To declare the goodness that it means to be more than fully funded! Thank you all for your tremendous support, kind words, and overall encouragement! I will be sending out surveys very soon, so stay tuned!
I also thought I would share with you all how this project began, beyond the few sentences I mentioned on KS. I have an insane love for felt, its all around my house, in my closet, even my two cats have felt toys! I love it because its incredibly versatile. What other renewable material can you cut, fold, twist, sew, weave, and generally manipulate and keep its unique structural integrity? Firemen wear wool long-johns under their suits, because it has natural fire resistant properties. At the same time I find modern technology is rapidly advancing, but jewelry and clothing seems to remain, at times, static. The idea of laser cutting and combining one of the oldest textiles known to man was stimulating to me. I always had the idea in the back of my mind, but it wasn’t until I stumbled upon the perfect felt and the convenient use of a laser in my backyard (okay, not literally, that would be way to cool) that I pursued it further. It took me months to get the process right, I kept perfecting the designs, tweaking, and going back to the drawing board. But persistence paid off and I began to get tons of compliments from my designs. People love the fact that is soft and different and that it redefines the meaning of jewelry; and when people are intrigued by it, that encourages me to keep going.
Whew, okay...that was a little long. The main point is that the possibilities of felt are endless and I hope to explore more in the coming months and years. Thank you for again for your support. You are part of the few that realize jewelry can be more than metal, wood, and plastic and that helps me to keep on keeping on!
