Easy-going violinist Heinrich Wolfe is the last person you'd expect to have any sort of enemy. Unfortunately for him, his effortless charm and grace is almost too effortless for the liking of former friend, Dominik Voss. Consumed by envy, Voss makes a deadly deal with a cunning spirit, and now far more than their friendship is at stake...
A monster is coming to Widdershins, and it's down to Wolfe and his colleagues - a fussy wizard and a grumpy yet gifted vagrant - to discover what it wants, and how to stop it.
Widdershins is a series of light-hearted adventure stories, set in a magical version of Victorian-era Yorkshire, featuring grumpy treasure hunters, accidental thieves, failed wizards, and more besides...
The book will be a full-colour, A5, landscape orientated softcover, around 120 pages long. It's going to look pretty spiffy on the shelf along with the others!
All of the printed volumes so far. You can buy any of these from my online shop right now, or as part of this Kickstarter!
Each book collects a complete Widdershins story, and this project will fund the fifth one. If you're new to the series, you can read it all online right now for free, starting here! It's an ongoing webcomic which updates regularly with new pages twice a week. If you'd prefer to catch up in print, then there are backer levels which include all of the previous volumes, or if reading on your mobile device is your thing, then every reward at the £6 level and higher will include high-resolution digital copies of every volume!
The Purple Prototype of Happiness! Each doll will be handmade by Threnodi of Threnodi's Threads!
A few of the ink drawings done for the last Kickstarter.
As with the previous Widdershins projects, all funding is going towards printing the books, shipping them, packing materials, production of extras such as the pins, and of course, Kickstarter's fees. If we hit the funding goal, I have a few stretchgoals in mind - just some fun things like extra pages in the book, prints, and such - and any excess funds will go towards getting me to conventions, hopefully a few across the Atlantic! I'll put some aside for reprinting the second volume, too, as stocks are running a little low on that one.
£7000 - Adds some book-exclusive content: A 4-page in-character Guide To Malforms, as described by Mal, as transcribed by Ben, and as illustrated by Wolfe. This is going to go as well for them as you'd imagine it would. Will be included in the PDF version too! Done! Looking forward to making this one!
£9000 - Let's fancy up the cover with a little spotgloss! It'll still fit in with the other books in the series, but it'll look juuust that little bit more special. Done! I may angle for spotgloss on the reprint of Vol 2 as well, for double-shiny.
£11000 - Every £12 and up tier will get a free sheet of Buggerup stickers included! Done! These will be a ton of fun to draw.
£14000 - Another 4 pages of book-exclusive content!
I'm Kate Ashwin, I live in West Yorkshire with my very understanding husband and my very demanding cats, and I've been putting comics on the internet for nearly half my life. Since I started Widdershins, I've gone full-time on webcomics, and while it's a lot of work and more than a little stress, I wouldn't change it for the world.
Anything raised via Kickstarter is very much appreciated. Independent comics rely on support from fans such as yourselves, and anything that allows us to keep making stories for you can only be a good thing for everyone involved!

Risks and challenges
Having completed three projects and helped fulfil a further two, I feel pretty confident in my ability to get this done, but there's no predicting the future - there may be minor delays in printing and postage, so the estimated delivery dates may end up a little off, but not by much.
I've worked with the printer I'm using (http://comicprintinguk.com/) on every book so far and been impressed with their speed and quality every time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
