Reckless young bounty hunter Henry Barber always considered himself to have luck on his side, and rarely said no to a good adventure. But when an all-too-suave stranger requested he bring in a mysterious amulet and the scholarly wizard studying it, Henry soon found he'd need more than luck to face what was coming...
Decades later, the town of Widdershins is under attack, but before Henry's equally bold granddaughter Harriet Barber can save it, she needs to know what she's fighting. Can his tale from the past help her to save the future?
Widdershins is a series of light-hearted Victorian-era adventure stories set in West Yorkshire, which has been running as a webcomic for nearly five years. You can read the whole comic online, for free, starting here!
With this Kickstarter project, I'm hoping to fund the print run of the newly-completed sixth story, Find the Lady! It'll be a full-colour, A5 landscape sized softcover, around 120 pages long, which should match up nicely with the volumes already printed so far.
The book will cover the entire Find the Lady story, and an exclusive to the print and PDF versions short extra story about a certain wedding! This will be written by myself, and drawn by the fantastic Taylor Robin of Never Satisfied!
This extra story is something I'm really excited to bring to you, and it's thanks to Kickstarter that it'll be possible to pay her for her awesome work!
If you're new to the series, or just have a few volumes missing from your Widdershins collection, there are several reward tiers that include the previous books. Each book can stand on its own as a complete story, but since it's nice to catch up, all tiers from the Deluxe Digital upwards include downloadable digital copies of every volume so far.
All of the money raised will go towards printing the book and packaging it up and shipping it out. Extras like paying Taylor to draw the extra story will be covered too. Any leftover funds will go directly into the comic, such as paying for reprints of previous volumes, or helping me to bring Widdershins to new conventions!
- If we get to £8000, we'll get some nice shiny spot gloss on the cover! Made it!
- If we reach £10,000, I'll add four extra pages to the book- Backers can ask the characters some questions, which they'll answer! Got it!
- If we hit £14,000, I'll do an A5 mini print that'll be added to every tier of £10 and up!
Hello! I'm Kate Ashwin, I live in West Yorkshire, England, with my very understanding husband and two fat cats, and comics are what I do all day every day! I've been making webcomics for around 15 years, which is a silly amount of time to be doing anything, but here I am anyway. You can follow me on Twitter here for any project updates, notifications of new webcomic pages, and pictures of aforementioned fat cats.
Thanks for your time!
Risks and challenges
As with my previous projects, I'm pretty confident in my ability to deliver on any promises made. All of my suppliers are trusted to deliver on time, and the pages of the story (aside from extras) are all finished.
There's no telling the weather, of course, and delays may occur, but if they do I'll be certain to keep backers informed every step of the way.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
