@Ares. Thanks! Appreciate the response! Can't wait for the game to come out, it looks like it's going to be so much fun!

    2. Ares Games 11-time creator on

@Bryan, do not up your pledge beyond the amount you want charged. $ 50 of options are already included in your minimum Worldwide pledge, so you should not increase it unless you want more options!

    3. Ares Games 11-time creator on

@Curtis, thanks for clarifying your point, and sorry if we raised the shields too soon. Good to know we're still friends :-)

@Curtis, Byron - Maybe it's just because of too many years with Maths and Computer Science, but to me it's very clear that "partially included" is as much an opposite of "not included" as "totally included" is.

The point is, a lot of people want to know what they do NOT get with Elite Agent. So that's what we felt was necessary to clarify. What Elite Agents GET is (should be) 100% clear from the Pledge Summary. The HIve just add a higher quantity of stuff which IS is included in the pledge, as do additional dice, additional copies of free figures, and so on. So that's why it's not listed.
Hopefully, the combination of pledge summary and option clarifications should be clear enough now. If it is not, just shoot more questions!

I am sorry, but I agree that this update is misleading (and no, I am not accusing anybody of fraud). The Hive should not be suggested as included in the Elite Agent pledge. I understand your reasoning (that Elite Agent includes SOME of the figures), but if I knew nothing about the game, I would take this to mean that Elite Agent includes at least 3 of each alien, which is not true. It is more confusing than it is helping.

    5. Curtis Thornock on

@ Ares (and everyone) - Just to be clear, I personally was not accusing you of fraud. I was just pointing out that for many folks, this update could have been misleading. I also was trying to point out there are a fair number of folks out there who would take advantage of the situation. Basically, I was trying to shed light on a spark of a problem that could have easily turned into a raging forest fire. Nothing more, nothing less.

I wasn't trying to get more out of you for me and/or any others. I deal every day with folks who try to do such things, therefore I often see potential for such abuses where others wouldn't.

Based on the tone of your replies and the tone of the latest update, I feel you thought I was. I certainly hope this isn't the case.

However, if you still feel I was trying to do such, please cancel my support. No game is worth my integrity being questioned. I spent $328 on your Sails of Glory project, and came to your defense there when backers were upset at the discounted ship prices advertised in some online retail outlets.

I'm a big fan of Ares products, but not a fan at all of being called on the carpet for trying to help. Next time folks find fault with you, I'll just remain on the sidelines and cheer to myself for your success...

Ah, who am I kidding, it's in my nature to be a sheepdog. When the wolves come at you, I'll still defend you. It's who I am.

My sincere apologies to all who may have mistook my intent and misread my actions. Part of being a sheepdog means I nip at the heels of those I'm trying to protect to keep them away from dangerous situations they may not have perceived possible when the day began. ;)

    6. Horfrost3 on

Is there any way if you are an Elite Agent or Worldwide Elite Agent backer to get a Hive supplement to Hunt, so we could just get 2 more Xeno-Morphs and 2 more Xeno-Hunters, so we'd have 3 each in total (instead of having 4 each from the Hunt + the Hive)?

Is there any mission where having 4 of each would be necessary?

    7. Jon White on

THIS is exactly what I was hoping for - a clear summary of everything included and NOT included! Well done! It definitely helps clarify what options I want to add. Thank you!

    8. Ares Games 11-time creator on

In case the pledge summary is not clear enough about the rewards included at each level (including Elite), we just completed the Pledge & Rewards Summary: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4427040/GD%20Pledge%20and%20Options%20Summary.pdf

    9. Ryan Johnson on

      @Eric
For an Elite Agent, you get one of each the Xeno-Hunter and Xeno-Morph. In order to get the three you need for the one downloadable mission, you must buy either 2 of The Hunt option (one more of each) or 1 of The Hive (three more of each). So no, The Hive isn't included, you will need to buy it.

Note: as an Elite Agent, you will have four of each by getting The Hive. But since it's the same price as 2 The Hunt, there is no downside to getting a spare.

    10. Ares Games 11-time creator on

Just to be clear: this is an explanation of something which was already announced, so it is not a change from any previous announcement (such as the Pledge Summary which is on our home page).
The § marker in front of each option indicates a component which is NOT included in the Elite Agent rewards.
It does not imply anything on the components which are NOT marked.
For example, the "G-Dice Pack" option is not marked, not because 40 dice are included, but because SOME dice are included.
If anything is unclear, just ask. Please remember that, at least under Italian law, accusing someone of fraud, if such a statement is not proved in front of a Judge, is a criminal offense.

      Matt S on

@Eric No, it does not include the Hive but figures from the Hive. Meaning you would not have to buy the Hive to get a copy of those figures. See what @Curtis is talking about intent vs written vs our understanding.

    12. Eric Tewell
      Superbacker
      on

      So The Hive is included?

    13. Curtis Thornock on

Let me state it a different way. By saying...

"Summary of Options Not Included in the Elite Agent rewards

      Agent G-Droid (KS-Exclusive, $ 10.00)
      Agent Chromium – Alternate Version (KS-Exclusive, $ 10.00)
      Elite Alien Army ($ 20.00)
      Blue Xeno-Beast ($ 8.00) / Green Xeno-Beast ($ 8.00) or Real Terror ($ 12.00)
Red Xenobots ($ 10.00) or Xenobot Full Squadron ($ 25.00)
      GalaxyBall Card Deck ($ 12.00)"

Ares strongly implies all other add-on options are (fully) included with Elite Agent pledge levels. Enough so that if not corrected (or fully included), would constitute fraud in my country.

(I am a Deputy Marshal assigned to District Court Judicial Security in my jurisdiction. I've seen many much weaker cases proven).

I have Ares' best interests at heart here, or I'd have kept quiet and just demanded my extras after the fact.

    14. Rand Chua TL on

A clear update on what we maybe need to get as add on.

    15. Brian VD on

@ Ares Sorry, I realize I now wasn't really clear. I picked an Worldwide Elite Agent level that says you get 50$ worth of options. I assumed that would not be counted towards the stretch goals. If it indeed does, I can manage my pledge, but I assume my card only gets charged the original amount without the 50$ addition? Is that right?

    16. Curtis Thornock on

@ Vinson - That is my (very strong) belief as well, which is why I'm pointing it out. Our beliefs, their intent, and what this update says, are very likely 3 different things. Our beliefs and Ares' intent are probably closely aligned, but what they've now actually stated...

"Options marked with a § indicate a component which is not included in the Elite Agent rewards."

in this update and their intent are vastly erroneous and will cause much confusion and downright anger when project investors are seemingly shorted items this update blatantly states they'll get.

      That's my whole point.

    17. Ahzile on

@Curtis, I believe when Ares says not included, it means that Elite don't have ANY copies, so those add-ons are to give extras.

    18. Curtis Thornock on

So, according to this update, Elite Agent includes...

      The War
      Alien G-Droid
      The Hunt
      The Hive
      Xenobot Assault
      Xenobot Full Squadron
      Map Tiles
      G-Dice
      G-Dice Pack
      Alien Card Deck

I do not believe this data to be accurate.

Many of those are not listed anywhere else as being included with the Elite Agent level, nor do I see them pictured on the web summary jpg. Of specific interest to me are

      The hive
      G-Dice Pack

But there are others without the double-S symbol which I don't believe are included in the Elite Agent level.

      Xenobot Assault
      Xenobot Full Squadron
      Map Tiles
      G-Dice
      Alien Card Deck

@ Ares - a printed summary of what each level really gets specifically would be very useful to many if us. My iPad has replaced my PC and the web summary jpg is too small to read unless zoomed in, and then it's too blurry.

    19. Ares Games 11-time creator on

It will be possible to add options after the KS ends. Adding them now helps the project to reach the stretch goals, though.

    20. Brian VD on

Question about the options. Do we have to mess with managing our pledge amount to get the extra stuff? Or will there be a way once the kickstarter closes that we can just specify what we want?

    21. Ares Games 11-time creator on

Thanks for the comments! Yes, missed the G-Droid as a recruitment bonus... We'll add it in release 2.0 of this document. Now, back to the metal option FAQ and the spreadsheet...

    24. Ahzile on

@Ryan. Oh, I missed that. Too many comments to go through that were posted while I was asleep. I guess I'll wait on it before I decide...

    25. Ryan Johnson on

      @ Vinson
From Ares in the main comments:

Xenobots - you can play with one swarm, you can add more! The Xenobots mission Gremlins are at work on gives either option. But remember that the current missions are just the beginning. The game is not cut in stone. It's mission-based, and you can easily adjust missions adding or removing stuff to make them easier, more difficult, or to balance things out, based on what you've got.

    26. Larkin on

Come on Ares, you can do better ! You missed to mention the recruitment campaign for

      § Agent G-Droid (KS-Exclusive, $ 10.00)

    27. Ahzile on

Good summary. With the Xenobots, are we likely to need more than 3 of each (i.e. the set that comes as a stretch goal + getting Red Xenobots) for future missions/expansions? This is mainly for people who aren't sure if we should just get Red Xenobots or to get Xenobot Full Squadron if we don't have any custom in mind.
