Dungeon Time is a real time, cooperative card game of exciting dungeon adventures and catastrophic failures for one (yes, you can play solo!) to five players. In Dungeon Time, you will enter a fantasy realm with only 5 minutes to complete your missions. Find the equipment, achieve the missions... But remember, Time is your worst enemy!
As the sand falls in the sandtimer, you must race through the deck to achieve as many missions as you can, before the last grain of sand falls. Simultaneously, you and your friends draw, play, draw, frantically looking for all the items you need to complete your missions.
Get the items in play as fast as you can, then complete a mission by playing it on the Story deck at the right time, when your equipment is correct. You must try to beat the clock, going through the missions as fast as you can, but you must also avoid being over–burdened by your equipment — miss the right items and your mission fails; bring too much unnecessary equipment in your backpack and you lose the game
When the time is over, go through the Story deck, to find out if you fail or if you win... and level up to higher challenges if you do!

It's not easy to describe the experience of playing a real-time game with words and static images. For this reason, we created a 5-minutes gameplay video to show you, almost in real time, the basic concept of how the game plays.
This gameplay video shows you the core level of Dungeon Time gameplay - your Kickstarter edition will include extra features to make the game even more strategic, challenging, and fun.
- Campaign mode - The game does not stop after one play. If you win at the current level, you level up, to face greater challenges.
- Heroic characters - The game includes a wide selection of characters with diverse skills. Each player chooses one character at the start of the game, with a unique ability. When going through the deck to resolve your missions, you will use the ability of your character to succeed against unsurmountable odds. Help us unlock additional characters as stretch goals!
- Adventures (Unlocked with stretch goals) - Each adventure is represented by an adventure scroll and adventure card, and adds a unique theme to the game, background, and rules. Different adventures make the gameplay experience completely new, enhancing replayability and extending the longevity of the game. Help us unlock additional adventures as stretch goals!
Watching people playing Dungeon Time is not enough? Try the game with your friends using our print-and-play downloads!

After we achieve our initial funding goal, we will upgrade the game and add extra items to your rewards. All stretch goals are automatically included with your Kickstarter edition.
Apart from pledging, there are many other ways to support us. Spreading the word is a key factor in the success of a crowdfunding project, and your activity on social networks may help a lot! As a token of our gratitude, as we "level up" on the social ladder, we will add extra rewards. To support our project, click on the images below!
To achieve the last Facebook goal, SHARE the post, at the top of our Facebook page, announcing the final hours of the Kickstarter.
In this section, you find a selection of items you may optionally add to your rewards. The items listed are a selection of fine games from Ares' catalog, recently released (Co-mix, Jolly Roger) or upcoming (Behing the Throne) which we think have the qualities to be appealing to our backers.
You can already find these games in the best hobby games stores, physical or online. except for Behind The Throne, which shall release in August, so if you decide to look for them elsewhere, we're very happy with that! If you decide to pledge for them, the funds received will contribute to unlock the stretch goals of this Kickstarter.
You can include individual Add-ons, or the "I want it all" Add-on bundle, by adding the indicated dollar amount to your pledge, using the "Managing Your Pledge" button.
You will indicate to us your specific choice of add-ons using our Pledge Manager system (available on http://ks.aresgames.eu after the end of the Kickstarter).
Add-ons are only available to backers who pledged at the Dungeon Adventurer or Dungeon Party level, and will ship free of charge to them, together with the project's rewards.
Retailers interested in these products are welcome to contact us for more information.
We expect Dungeon Time to ship to our backers in December 2016. We will ship from our main warehouse in the USA and from our secondary warehouses in Australia, Canada, and Germany. No customs charges will apply to backers in Australia, Canada, European Union, or USA.
Shipping charges are highly variable by shipping method, destination, and are also subject to change over time. Depending on the success of the Kickstarter, it is also possible that additional secondary warehouses in other countries will be activated. For all these reasons, we are NOT including shipping charges as a part of your pledge at this moment. Before your rewards ship, you will have access to a section of our website called a "Pledge Manager." There you will have an option to indicate your address and to modify the choice of rewards, if necessary (for example, adding multiple copies). Shipping charges will be calculated and paid at that time.
We remain committed to make every effort to keep shipping charges reasonable, while using reliable shipping methods with guaranteed delivery.
If you don't like shipping charges, why not trying to organize a group pledge with your friends? If you pledge at the Dungeon Party level, if the four copies ship to a single address, they will pay the same cost as one copy!
Our estimates of shipping charges for Dungeon Adventurer or Dungeon Party rewards are:
- $6 to $9 for rewards shipping to a destination in the USA;
- $6 to $12 for rewards shipping to a destination in Australia / New Zealand;
- $9 to $12 for rewards shipping to a destination in Canada;
- $8 to $12 for rewards shipping to a destination in the European Union (this amount also includes VAT charges);
- $15 to $25 for rewards shipping to a destination outside the territories indicated above.
Please understand the estimate is just that - an estimate - and that we'll do our best to make the shipping cost as low as we can.
The creative talents of many different people are required in the development of every tabletop game, and Dungeon Time is no exception! Here's the "who's who" of our project, in their own words.
"I always loved playing board games since I was a child; and, on top of this, I always tried to figure out mechanisms behind good games. And of course, I then had to start inventing my own games... I am specialized in designing party games, children games, and light family games (since I am too lazy to develop heavy strategy games!). Nevertheless, I feel much more a gamer rather than a designer; I always try to organize gaming nights and I can never have enough of playing - as well as collecting - games. Recently, I became a fan of illustrated books for children and started to collect them; may be some day I’ll try to create something in that field, too!"
"I've worked in the game industry since 2006, as game designer, sales manager, general manager. and developer. Currently, I am focused on developing and localizing games for the challenging Asian market, with the company I co-founded, Planplay. And of course, I am also helping the Ares team to survive their challenging production program!"
"Munch, scrunch, gulp... no no, this part of the game has no flavour at all, that other gets stuck between your teeth and the last one is overdone. Back to development, and if salt and pepper are wrong again I'm gonna hit you. For over 30 years I've played and ate every kind of game, and try to make them something better. Have Fun!"
"I've loved drawing since childhood, and in the 90s I decided to do it professionally, so I entered the university to study book illustration. For several years I had been working as an illustrator and took part in exhibitions and competitions and then ... then I developed a great interest in advertising! Within 15 years I achieved the position of Creative Director at an international advertising agency, but drawing always remained my first and greatest love, so a couple of years ago I could not resist the temptation to work as an illustrator again. Now I work as a freelance illustrator."
"I graduated in Graphic and Illustration from the Academy of Fine Arts. After many experiences as a graphic designer in the field of communication, I decided to dedicate myself to what I really love: board games, a deep passion that is now my job, a really cool job! I’m obsessed by Monkey Island, pixels, and animals. I don’t know how to write a brilliant autobiography or how to eat an icecream without getting dirty."
Risks and challenges
DUNGEON TIME is our seventh Kickstarter project.
We already delivered five Kickstarters successfully (Sails of Glory, Galaxy Defenders-Season 1 and Galaxy Defenders-Season 2, Age of Conan - Adventures in Hyboria and Wings of Glory-Giants of the Sky) with very positive feedback from our backers.
The development and pre-production of the rewards of our latest Kickstarter (Sword & Sorcery) is in progress, and we plan to ship the rewards to its backers within the next 4 to 8 months.
Creating high-quality boardgames is not an easy task. However, Ares Games has an excellent track record of publishing games with excellent components, such as those in our War of the Ring, Wings of Glory, and Sails of Glory product lines.
Our staff has strong experience producing boardgames, and from a production viewpoint, DUNGEON TIME is less complex than most items in our catalog. We don't envision any specific challenge associated with the production of this project.
Artwork and graphic design are already complete and fully funded by Ares, so there is no risk on pre-production. Funds from this project will be solely used for production and fulfillment.
The main risk at this stage is the project might ship later than scheduled, due to delays in the production pipeline. We will always prefer a reasonable delay to compromising on the level of quality we are looking for in our games in general, and in this product specifically.
There are also risks of delays, as with any game manufactured in Asia, related to transport and delivery to our warehouse in the United States. These are also routinely handled by our logistic staff, but unexpected delays due to customs clearance, strikes, and exceptional weather are always possible, and may influence the time necessary to deliver the games to our backers.
That said, we've looked at the delays affecting our past products have been delayed, and we are consistently adjusting our estimates to make them more accurate than in the past.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
