the act of a person visiting an area of land, usually in a largely natural state, for the enjoyment of the public, having facilities for rest and recreation, often owned, set apart, and managed by a city, state, or nation.
Who Are We?
Our project is a bi-weekly podcast dedicated to discussing the history, science, splendor, enjoyment, and the issues concerning our national and state parks, as well as state historic sites. Though we are based in Southern California, our plan is to visit parks throughout the country, in hope of getting people interested in the parks. These parks were created for the people, for their enjoyment, and their appreciation. Every park has a story, and we'd like to share it with you.
Why Do We Need Your Money?
We are raising funds for the basic equipment that we need, and any additional funds raised will help us to visit parks that may be out of our reach at this moment.
Here's a breakdown of what this crowdfunding will go to:
$310 Equipment (Microphones, mixer, pop filters)
$50 Domain hosting for our website
$50 Amazon S3 Service for podcast
$90 Logo and promotional materials/miscellaneous/fees
Where Are We Going?
Currently, we have plans to visit the following national parks, monuments, and historic sites in 2015:
Joshua Tree National Park - March 2015
Rosie the Riveter National Historic Site - April 2015
John Muir National Historic Site - April 2015
Alcatraz Island National Historic Site - April 2015
Yellowstone National Park - June 2015
Grand Tetons National Park - June 2015
Bodie State Park - July/August 2015
Manzanar National Historic Site - July/August 2015
Yosemite National Park - September 2015
We may also add additional visits depending on funds and time.
Risks and challenges
The only major challenge that we are facing with this project is time. One half of our team is completing her degree in history, which as anyone who has taken a college level history class knows, can be fairly time consuming. However, effective time management and support can alleviate this issue, as well as our dedication to our project.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
