I am an amateur crossword puzzle maker. I create the puzzles mainly for fun (yes I am a nerd). I have a small, but dedicated and growing following of family and friends who solve my puzzles. In an effort to reach a slightly bigger audience, I decided to give Kickstarter a try. This project will include a year of crossword puzzles delivered weekly (52 in all). Each will be an original, never before published 15 by 15 puzzle. A new puzzle will arrive in your email inbox each week in the form of a .pdf file. A separate .pdf file with the solutions will also be provided with the same email. I try to adhere to the rules and form of The New York Times daily crossword puzzle. The majority of the puzzles will be of the Monday to Wednesday level of difficulty, but there will be the occasional more difficult puzzle. I will provide themed puzzles in the weeks leading up to Christmas and some of the other major holidays to help people get in the spirit.
I'm hoping to find 200 people willing to pay five dollars each to fund the year of crossword puzzles. That works out to less than a dime per puzzle. Although, feel free to give more if you wish.
The $1,000 I raise will go to my time creating the puzzles.
To give you taste of my style, here is a sample of one of my puzzles:
Risks and challenges
I am confident that I will be able to adhere to the schedule of delivering a new crossword puzzle each week. I have a notebook full of ideas for new puzzles, which I am continually supplementing. My plan is to try and build a backlog of 4 or 5 puzzles early on. This buffer should allow me to deliver a new puzzle even during those weeks when I unexpectedly have to spend time responding to life’s other demands.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
