Hi, everyone -
I wanted to let you know that I'll have a new comic book project launching soon here on Kickstarter, a digital-native, digital-only, graphic-novel-length sci-fi/romance comic called INTO THE GREAT. Here's a sneak peek:
As mentioned above, INTO THE GREAT is a digital-native comic, which means it was designed to be read on your screen. As you can see in the above GIF, it's a somewhat different reading experience - but it doesn't move that fast! Or at all - it's not a motion comic and it has no animation. Just beautiful art in panels. You control the pace, just like a regular comic, but instead of turning a page, you click an arrow or tap your screen to advance the story, just like you do if you read comics on ComiXology. We're trying something a little different with this comic, in that we're telling two stories at once, one on the left side of the screen, the other on the right. The stories are intertwined, and you might say the guy on the left and woman on the right are on a collision course... We made the above proof-of-concept to make sure the dual-narrative technique would work, and after testing it with experienced digital comics readers and people with little comics reading experience at all, we're pleased to say it does! To see for yourself, please feel free to download a copy here: 2MB PDF or 22MB Hi-Res PDF
INTO THE GREAT is written by me, and features:
- storyboards by JL Mast (Daredevil/Punisher: Seventh Circle, Guardians of the Galaxy Infinite, Pax Arena)
- line art by Chris Peterson (Broken World for Boom! Studios, Mayday for Black Mask)
- color art by Jason Wordie (Genesis for Image Comics, Turncoat for Boom! Studios)
- letters and logo by Thomas Mauer (The Package, Copperhead for Image Comics, 4 Kids Walk Into a Bank for Black Mask)
It's a great team, and I'm thrilled to be collaborating with these guys on this creator-owned project. And this one really is creator-owned - everyone on the team has a stake in the book.
Please take a look at the INTO THE GREAT proof-of-concept, and if dig it, I hope you'll consider backing the project when it launches. And once again, thanks for supporting THE PACKAGE!
All the best,
