LADY IN RED - an original stage play - has toured across the UK, including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival - to standing ovations since 2003.

Audiences love the lyrical beauty of its startling language! Time and again audiences have asked - 'Can I buy the script?' So by popular demand - We'd like this to be Tallheart's first publication so the answer will be 'Yes!'

This original play is from Certain Curtain Theatre Company - who have been challenging, entertaining and inspiring audiences with its own unique brand of dynamic and original theatre since 1989. They aim to take the harsh, raw elements of life and language, mix them with a startling lyrical flavour and add a touch of attitude, to create something new, edgy and hopefully daring and dangerous - to give people what they don't expect!

This extraordinary, darkly beautiful play by two leading playwrights on domestic violence, combines a tense, mesmerising plot with a startling poetic language to explore on of modern life's most urgent themes. In terms of language alone, it is as tense, moving and exciting on the page as on the stage - as it journeys into the very heart of an issue that is as compelling for future generations as it is for the present.

LADY IN RED  takes you on a journey with ‘Rose’ – enabling you to explore one woman’s attempts to leave an abusive relationship and the barriers she faces.

A mesmerising story of Love

A heart-stopping tale of abuse

A tribute to the human spirit

One woman's journey to the edge and beyond

THE PLAY - It is Christmas Eve and 'Rose,' a woman in a red dress, awakes to find that she has no memory of who or where she is. As she gradually weaves the threads of memory together, a dark and violent picture begins to emerge. Compelled to leave for fear of her life Rose begins to pack...but it's dark outside and the house is full of strange noises. Will she escape, before her attacker returns? Or is he still in the house?

Enter the heart and mind of a true survivor, as she attempts to leave.   Power and control, physical, emotional and psychological abuse, fear of the unknown and ‘Why doesn't she just leave?’ are just some of the jagged corners rounded in this definitive, contemporary look at domestic violence. LADY IN RED had been hailed by audiences, across the UK as the best play about domestic abuse ever written!

WHAT NEXT?

We've got the script!

We're working on the layout as well as additional pages to include in the book so that there can be some performance notes, background information and advice. We will also include production stills in the book - black and white and colour if possible!

So we need - The money to pay for editing, typesetting, printing and binding. Which is where you come in!

Environmental responsibility - We are sourcing paper from renewable sources so that we can print on paper from suppliers that are FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council) and PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forestry Certification) certified. as well as looking at using vegetable based inks.

If you have a question do get in touch!

What if you get more money then you need?

If we are lucky enough to get more than we need - we will create more rewards and fund a larger print run.

Risks and challenges

If we don't raise the amount we need - it won't happen!
We have the script and are working on the layout - choosing photographs from the live show to include as well as supporting information for the reader.

Other than lack of funds - The only thing that can present a problem are delays in sourcing paper and printing delays - We have timetabled extra time to compensate for this. If the vegetable inks don't give us the quality we are looking for we will opt for a higher quality ink - we want this to be a quality product!
