About this project
Kids should stay young as long as possible and while no kid wants to talk about their future career, getting an early start on career development is crucial for success. My app was created to give children career insight while meeting them where they already are, playing a game.
I, Justin Davis grew up following in the footsteps of my father. He was a very successful United States Army Soldier. Why wouldn't I want to be like my father? He was my hero. I dedicated my heart, my time, and my mind to being just like my father. After my military career ended early, I was 23 with no idea of what I was going to do with my life because I had not set any other goals. I was now lost. I spent the next 3 years working 3 different jobs and speaking to anyone who would answer my question, "what did you want to be when you grew up?" I found most people expected to be on a different career path, had even accrued massive amounts of debt to pursue a degree they ultimate never used, while others had never even defined a career path. Regardless of the response I received there was a common thread, many people would say, “If I knew then, what I know now.” Responses like these made me wonder, “why didn’t they know about the diverse career options available?” and “how can I make a difference in the next generation?”
This E-career counselor will give direct insight to the world's youth (5-16 years old) about the variety of career and life paths available to them. This interactive app guides children through captivating game play, including puzzle and riddle solving and mazes, to provide the app with real life measurements and allow for simultaneous calculation of the user’s skills. After the game, the app will match the user with career paths based on the skills the user displayed. This app will provide children with the knowledge they will need to make informed decisions regarding their future, while offering them a fun outlet. Using this app, I hope to reduce the chance of another child growing up to be an unfilled adult with no career passion. Before you say no to donating to give a child’s life true purpose and passion, go ask a few people what they wanted to be when they grew up. Risks and challenges
The risks are simple. Can Life Long Learning keep the game fun while accurately portraying each career field, accurately measure skills used in the game to find the most compatible career field for the user, and finally our team is new to the app building field.
What makes us qualified? We work hard to complete any task and to follow through with our promises to the youth. Our organization was once told we could not succeed, we have now been successful succeeding for 3 years now working with underdeveloped youth. Finally, we used careful judgment and a selection process when we hired the current app building company to complete this large task. As always we will succeed in the greatest possible way.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
