Welcome to our second Bullseye Dice Kickstarter!
These unique dice feature a design meant to capture the spirit of the rangestriker! This go around, we're doing things a bit different. Based off requests from our backers, we're presenting both a d8 Arrow die and a d4 Dagger die. The project is structured a little different than last time, but we're sticking with the Robin Hood theme because, well, he's awesome.
The Bullseye die features a custom image on each face. While this does mean added cost, it is also very cool! The quantity of arrows on each face of an Arrow die replaces the numerals typically featured on a standard d8. For the Dagger die, the number of daggers at the top of the pyramid on a side equates to the number rolled The dice are standard sized d8s/d4s that are common in the industry. The base color scheme of the dice is white with black coloring.
NOTE: This is a relief type design and the dice will be molded, not screen-printed.
As expected, we learned a few lessons as part of our first project related to stretch goals and overall costs.
Per Die Cost
We had to increase the base reward per die cost by $1 (this cost reduces at higher reward levels). This stems from the fact d8s are more expensive to produce. Further, the most important thing we learned in our first project was that we won't be presenting unique die designs for years to come if we don't properly cover costs! We will always try to keep the cost to you at a minimum, but this increase was necessary.
As with the first project, we want to present two dice as part of this project. We've decided to take a different approach this time and present the two dice as a set. Doing so will allow us to have a better grasp on projected costs which makes the project risk drop significantly. We've had to increase the target funding level as a result, but feel it is a safer approach. A potential downside is that each backer will receive both d8 and d4 dice, where some may only prefer one type. Given the damage types (arrow and dagger) are fairly common, we feel this is an acceptable risk. Also, everyone has a friend or two that may be interested in sharing the reward burden in exchange for taking one type of die or the other. So...you archers harass your party rogue to join you in backing!
Color Stretch Goals
We spaced the stretch goals too closely last time and had to take that on the chin. Backers from our first project will see we've had to space them further apart. Please understand this is the result of a lesson learned on our part and not an attempt to run up the project funding level.
International Shipping Rates
We had to increase these rates slightly for some countries outside the US. This was based on the annual increase in prices from the USPS that occurs in January each year.
In addition to the base die color (white), additional colors are possible for this project. At each target Stretch Goal level below, one of these new colors will become available. This color will be chosen through backer feedback during the funding period. Once the funding period has ended, backers will be able to pick which colors they would like to receive as part of the survey process (backers may choose any mix of unlocked colors). It's that simple!
Backers from our first project will see we've ensured all the colors voted in on that project will be available for voting this time as well. We've dropped one color that wasn't voted in and added another in its place. The stretch goal colors available to be voted on are:
Beige with Brown ink (unlocked!!)
Black with White ink
Blue with Black ink
Green with Black ink
Red with Black ink
Red with White ink
Yellow with Black ink
You can visit our website for visual representations of all the color options. Note that a slight color variation may be present for color options other than white. I.e., the final die may be a slightly different hue/shade than the visual image presented for the red, blue, green, etc dice.
As Stretch Goals are reached, we'll update the below image to show what new color has been selected by the backers.
Additional d4 Dagger and d8 Arrow dice will be available as add-ons. A limited supply of d6 Arrow & Dagger dice from our first project are also available (see below). Each add-on die will be $4. For every 10 add on dice, please add $1 to cover the added shipping. Please contact us directly though our website to purchase add-ons or simply adjust your pledge level to reflect your add-ons and we will determine exactly what you'd like to receive via survey after the Kickstart completes!
A limited quantity of dice from our first project are available. These are available on a first come first served basis. Available colors are:
d6 Arrow Dice
Beige with Brown ink (running low)
Black with White ink
Blue with Black ink (running low)
Green with Black ink (running low)
Red with Black ink (running low)
White with Black ink
d6 Dagger Dice

As soon as the Kickstart project is complete (assuming successful funding), the fulfillment process will begin. Expected leadtime for the dice is 8 weeks. During that time, we will be making preparations to ship to minimize delay once the dice are in hand. After the dice are received by Black Oak, we will begin shipping immediately. Based on the number of backers, we anticipate all shipments to be handed off to the USPS within 7-10 days. All shipments will be processed through the United States Postal Service and the default service utilized will be First Class. All rewards will be packed securely in an effort to minimize risk of damage during shipping.
We were very pleased with the dice received from Q-workshop on our first project and will move forward with them on this project. Q-workshop has a proven record of meeting production schedules and providing a quality product! We feel great about this partnership!
Risks and challenges
Our goal is to present a series of new and exciting Kickstart projects to potential backers in the future. To do that, we recognize that establishing a reputation of providing a quality product while reliably fulfilling orders is crucial to building trust with our backers.
If funded, our priority will be to meet or exceed backer expectations. We have intentionally structured our second Kickstart project to minimize risks and challenges in an effort to help build confidence in our backers:
* Straightforward design
* Visual representation of the final product
* Partner with an established production vendor
* Research and capture all costs
* Provide regular project status updates
* Communicate any issues as they arise
Having purposely structured this project around minimizing risk, we are confident that we can and will meet our stated goals.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
