Captive Audience is a first person Narrative Thriller set in the confines of the Compendium Estates, a dark-web corporation responsible for the creation of unlicensed programming using unwilling participants sourced from death row. Inspired by George Orwells 1984 and the Truman Show, Captive Audience draws you in to its dark, sadistic world and holds you, dare I say, Captive.

With a fully voice acted story complete with multiple scenes of dialogue, scoring and object commentary, as well as a focus on environmental interaction, Captive Audience will be an immersive, engaging thriller that draws the player into its world and pulls them through to the shocking conclusion.

Our prototype introduced the world of Captive Audience, but there's so much more of the Compendium Estates left to explore. With the full title, we will visit the stories of several characters within the system, allowing players to see the world from a variety of perspectives within the universe.

Picking up after the events of Season Five of Captive Audience, our new title follows several stories within the Compendium Estates, expanding the universe and answering many of the questions left over from our prototype.

Whilst we're holding back details for now, we're pleased to announce the Chapter titles that will make up the full game:

Chapter 1: Julia

Chapter 2: The Lost Ones

Chapter 3: Proxy

Chapter 4: Stacy

Chapter 5: Reunion

Each chapter interlinks closely with its predecessors and those still to come, painting a slowly unfolding image with twists and turns that, to quote the The Host, "You won't see coming".

The title will be able to be played without any prior experience of the world, but it will still acknowledge the events of the prototype, enhancing the story for everyone who has played before.

To accommodate new players, a re-cap will be included in the full game.

One of the biggest draws to our original prototype was the high quality voice acting performed by our great actors. This will not change with the full version, and we plan for the title to continue it's legacy of great voice acting and engaging narrative.

As part of this we can confirm that several of our actors will be reprising their roles for the full title, bringing back to life the characters they created for our Prototype, and completing their stories.

The world of Captive Audience is full of interactable objects and puzzles that help to narrate and expand the story. This was something we experimented in with the Prototype, and plan to enhance greatly with the full title, with more complex puzzles, hidden objects and Mr Blinky than every before. We want the world of Captive Audience to be something you live in, not just inhabit through its characters, and will endeavor to make the experience as immersive as possible.

Narrative was one of the biggest focuses for us in Captive Audiences creation, and we want to take that further than we have before. The full version of Captive Audience will include brand new original narrative by Nick Pritchard, the writer of the original prototype, which will expand the world and it's characters, bringing more depth and intrigue to the Compendium Estates.

In our Prototype we were limited by time and resources with the Narrative, and as such it was a fairly linear experience. This helped us to focus the story, but also felt like the player had limited options when it came to impacting the direction they were headed. As part of the full version of Captive Audience we aim to add a brand new Dialogue System including various options for each conversation, allowing the player to embody and control the characters more personally than ever before.

With this addition comes the opportunity for multiple endings, more hidden secrets, and overall increased replay-ability of the game, promising a richer, and more immersive experience.

With the increased resources we will gain with your support, we can take our art to the next level to create more realistic and tactile environments for the game to take place in.

Helmed by our talented artist Gary Gough, our aim is to target a photo-realistic visual style that leaves the player feeling like reality is just one step away. From dark corridors, to bright sets, Captive Audience aims to draw the player into it's dark and gritty world, and make you feel like a part of the action.

People loved the soundtrack we created for our Prototype, but this was only the beginning. Every scene, every dramatic moment, and every loss will be undercut by a brand new score, enhancing each heart-pounding step the game takes towards its shocking conclusion.

Along with this, a variety of new shows will present themselves throughout the course of the game, which means brand new Theme Tunes that will drill into your brain and never let go.

Initially we are looking at PC being our primary release platform of choice, but with your help and encouragement, we would love to expand this to also include home consoles such as the PS4 and Xbox One. Though these platforms may not be available at first launch, with the right amount of funding we will endeavor to ensure players can play Captive Audience no matter what their platform of choice.

Another platform we would love to target is VR. We believe Captive Audience would work fantastically as an immersive VR experience, and that the game-play and narrative style would fit well with the VR concept. Should our funding goals be met, VR is high on our priority list of features we'd like to include, and is something we will strive to accomplish.

So, what do we need funding for?

Game Development isn't cheap, and we need access to a lot of tools we currently do not have as independent game developers. Software, systems and a base of operations are top on our list for what the funding would go towards, but we also need to think about the wages for our awesome actors, musicians, and ourselves.

At the end of the day, to make Captive Audience a reality requires a lot of tools and participants, and your funding can help us finance the game and complete it.

As we are a small team we'll be working with the same principle as Tell-tale games and other episodic titles. Each chapter will be released individually over a staggered period of time, allowing us to get content to you as fast as possible, while still giving us time to make the best game we possibly can.

Our reward tiers reflect this by offering access to individual chapters or bundles depending on how much you donate to the game. Rest assured though that if you purchase a tier with all five chapters, you will get all fives, and if you purchase a lower tier the other chapters will be available for purchase at launch!

Risks and challenges

With every game project that has been funded via Kickstarter there are the same inherent risks, and for us that is no different.

We're a small team of devoted game developers who dream big and have a lot of enthusiasm for our project, but that alone won't make it happen.

Development takes a lot of time, commitment and experimentation to get right. Sometimes it costs more than expected, sometimes less, and sometimes the project is never finished.

What we can say is that even as a small team, we created a highly successful prototype in a short space of time off our own backs, and we believe we can do it again.
