CREPAS WATCHES is proud to launch the second CREPAS model on Kickstarter, a product which combines Engelsfisch’ characteristic design, marked by refined and vigorous features, with a complication standing for technical innovation, the helium valve release, that will allow you to keep the watch safe in a decompression chamber. The timepiece retains the brand’s most distinctive peculiarities, introducing remarkable additional elements such as the inclined sapphire inlay bezel and the hardened Titanium.
CREPAS WATCHES designs and manufactures technical diving watches for extreme divers since ten years ago. All the designs are inspired by old models that are currently unattainable for most collectors, due to their scarcity or very high prices.
Our clients are watch collectors, amateur and professional divers, members of watch forums and private watch groups. This is the second time we offer a CREPAS design opens to a collective like Kickstater after the success of the Plongeur model.
CREPAS WATCHES markets its designs directly to the final client, without intermediaries. Kickstarter is perfect for us to continue maintaining contact with the customer.
What is saturation diving?
Taken from Wikipedia: “Saturation diving is a diving technique that allows divers to reduce the risk of decompression sickness ("the bends") when they work at great depths for long periods of time. Decompression sickness occurs when a diver with a large amount of inert gas dissolved in the body tissues is decompressed to a pressure where the gas forms bubbles which may block blood vessels or physically damage surrounding cells. This is a risk on every decompression, and limiting the number of decompressions can reduce the risk. "Saturation" refers to the fact that the diver's tissues have absorbed the maximum partial pressure of gas possible for that depth due to the diver being exposed to breathing gas at that pressure for prolonged periods. This is significant because once the tissues become saturated, the time to ascend from depth, to decompress safely, will not increase with further exposure. In saturation diving, the divers live in a pressurized environment, which can be a saturation system or "saturation spread", a hyperbaric environment on the surface, or an ambient pressure underwater habitat. This may be maintained for up to several weeks, and they are decompressed to surface pressure only once, at the end of their tour of duty. By limiting the number of decompressions in this way, the risk of decompression sickness is significantly reduced”
Our ENGELSFISCH model is designed to be used in saturation diving.
In some previous models we have certified the watertightness of the prototype in a German laboratory to confirm its resistance to water pressure. We will certify the prototype of the Engelsfisch to verify its watertightness.
All watches will be assembled and tested in Switzerland. The assembly in Switzerland consists of preinspection of each component of the watch, assembly, runing test and control of watertightness.
Here is some pictures of the previous Plongeur assembly at Switzerland.
Our main priority is making our most demanding customers proud of wearing a CREPAS WATCHES Engelsfisch 1200m timepiece, knowing it is extremely robust and well builded. That’s why we only use the finest components and materials available.

The ETA caliber 2824-2 is perhaps one of the most well-known and most recognized movements in the watch industry. It has been in production since 1982 and was based off the original Eterna caliber 1427. The “-2” designation indicates the generation. The 2824 is considered to be a “workhorse” movement by many watch enthusiasts. Most of the notorious Swiss watch companies use it or have used it. Among the advantages of this caliber is that the 2824-2 is a movement that any watchmaker could repair, its proven quality and durability and the accessibility to spare parts. We will use the standard grade.

A helium valve is a device for equalizing the pressure inside and outside the watch case when the watch is worn in a diving chamber. Inside the chamber, divers breathe a gas mixture that contains helium. The helium molecules are extremely small and are hence able to penetrate the watch case, building up inside it. In the process of decompression, the pressure inside the chamber decreases more rapidly than the pressure inside the case. This can cause the watch crystal to pop off. To prevent that, some watches have a valve on the side of the case that allows helium to escape from the case during decompression, making the pressure inside and outside the case the same. Most dive watches do not have helium valves and they are useless for saturation diving, where a diver spends time in a diving chamber.
The model ENGELSFISCH is made of titanium grade 2. Why grade 2 and not grade 5?
Is better grade 5 than grade 2 in a diver watch?
Difference between titanium grade 5 and grade 2 watch cases.
What exactly is the difference between Titanium grade 2 and 5 watch cases?
The primary difference is strength. A titanium grade 2 watch case is made of commercially pure titanium where as a grade 5 watch titanium is a titanium alloy with 6% aluminum and 4% vanadium. This helps to provide Grade 5 added strength as its 2x stronger than grade 2. Grade 5 offers a yield strength of 138ksi versus 50ksi of grade 2.
The additional elements that make up this alloy also give it 60% lower thermal conductivity.
But for a watch case is does not important the strength and the thermal conductivity. The more important elements for a titanium watch case is the hardness and the corrosion resistance.
In terms of hardness grade 5 has 349HV and grade 2 has 145HV, but after our hard coating treatment the titanium increases up to 900HV.
In terms of corrosion resistance that both offer exceptional resistance to salt water and all chlorides, though grade 5 is minutely less resistant than grade 2.
In general, grade 2 is the utilized for corrosion related applications, whereas for application requiring high strength, the recommend is grade 5.
The ENGELSFISCH model uses a black matt flat dial with a bevelled date window. The time markers are painted with Superluminova C3.
The white hands (with black base) together with the dial use Superluminova C3.
The ENGELSFISCH has inclined bezel made of sapphire. This inlay shows a 60 minutes scale and a no-decompression limit scale.
The no-decompression scale shows you the maximun time you can dive at a maximun depth.
That means the maximun diving time at 45 meters is only 5 minutes, 40 meters for no more than 10 minutes, 35 meters 15 minutes, 30 meters 20 minutes...18 meters 50 minutes. 50 means the limits to do decompression.
The time scale is 5 minutes graded. Pointed the triangule to the minute hands a 60 minutes lapse can be recorded.
Flat sapphire lens with AR coated on inner side.
The ENGELSFISCH uses Swiss Superluminova C3
We use this packing with our CREPAS Plongeur model. This consists of a sealed suitcase with compartments to store the spare parts. There are two levels. In the upper level the watch and small parts are stored. The lower level is intended for long and large objects, such as straps and booklet. This suitcase complies with IP67 regulations on waterproofing and shock resistance. It is the perfect packing to travel around the world with the Plongeur model.
CREPAS WATCHES sends its watches to the whole world using world-class messaging companies. Our shipments are fully insured and we use the express system.
The price of the shipment you have to pay to receive your ENGELSFISCH model is 0 euro. Take advantage of free shipping by purchasing your watch via Kickstarter.
The ENGELSFISCH model does not come alone. You will receive the watch in your home in a watertight suitcase with three compartments: in the first, the watch is housed on a pad. In a second compartment, small items, such a strap tool, three spare spring bars inside a glass bottle, the warranty card and a chamois to clean the watch. The third compartment, located on a lower level, is designed for larger accessories such as the brochure. If you help us get the stretch goals these will be stored in this compartment.
WHAT ABOUT STRETCH GOALS?...
We offer five stretch goals items.
One of stretch goals is a custom pieces made by JacobStraps.
Jacob is a craftsman from southern Spain. He manufactures straps for prestigious Swiss brands and build custom pieces that he sends around the world.
The JacobStrap Stretch Goal piece is a custom strap made of shark leather strap produced using the size of each customer and serial number engraved inside the lining.

6.- Why Kickstater?
We love Kickstarter for so many reasons, here are some:
- It strengthens and builds the CREPAS WATCHES community. The campaign encourages our fans to get involved and communicate with us in an authentic and direct way. Through our first three Kickstarters, we have developed and maintained close relationships with people all over the world, to the extent that it does feel like family at times. Many of our fans have shared their personal stories with us, as we have with them, and that's what makes this experience so unique and special to us.
- It allows us to offer our watches at accessible prices. Since we have to produce a minimum order quantities required by our manufacturers, Kickstarter allows us to pre-sell our new collections, giving us the buying power, and giving our fans a significant discount in return. Kickstarter is an ideal platform for this kind of project, as it allows us to reach more backers, making us achieve quicker the MOQ. This way, in return, the price is more restrained, while the project in in the platform.
- It provides an incredible planning framework. It forces us to explain why the product needs to exist, how it's different from its competitors, create a timeline, and many other components that ensure that our production runs smoothly and efficiently. It also allows us to gauge the public's interest in a particular product, and plan for new products accordingly.
- Backers benefit from a more attractive price while they obtain rewards as the targets get overtaken.
- It's an updated version of a "launch party." It's a two-week long party! It's exhausting and filled with adrenaline, but an excellent experience. We wouldn't have it any other way.
7.- Can I request a specific Limited Edition/Serial number?
As much as we'd love to, unfortunately, we're unable to accommodate requests for specific limited edition numbers or serial numbers for the following reasons:
1. Because multiple people could ask for the same number, and we don't want to disappoint any of our fans.
2. Because fulfilling requests for Limited Edition numbers would be a logistical nightmare, trying to match every order to the correct number. As you can understand, once we're up to the fulfillment process, we want things to go as quickly as possible, so that we can get your watches out to you as fast as possible.
Riesgos y desafíos
With almost decade of experience designing and selling watches online, we know that the only risk in not being able to deliver the watch on time is a factory delay. This happens sometimes. Our estimate delivery date is October 2019 includes this risk.
One aspect unknown to us is the number of final units that this Kickstarter project will generate. If the quantity exceeds our estimate delivery could take a couple of weeks more.
