About this project
Thank you for checking out our Kickstarter for "Jack Fall," a feature film by Michael Devin Greenman and Nathan Coltrane.
Jack Fall is a feature film in the style of "No country for old men" meets "The Green Mile". In the story, Jack Fall(KC Guyer) is a man consumed by the loss of his wife Katie(Suzanne Tufan) and his best friend Ryan(Joshua St. James). When one day Jack is mysteriously presented with a second chance with the ones he has lost, he sets out to make things right. However, just as things are looking up, an undiscovered truth presents itself. Jack is forced to re-evaluate his loss and choose what he is willing to sacrifice for the ones he loves.
So a little about us:
We are a passionate group of filmmakers from the Pacific Northwest. We have all worked together on various projects but for the first time, we are all coming together to produce our first feature film. We have everything we need to make a great feature film, however, we just need to little bit more to really bring this thing together.
It's important to note that every dollar earned through our kickstarter will go directly to improvements on this production. Whether it's helping out with meals for cast & crew or improving some of our props & locations; you'll directly see how the film is improved through your donations.
Also, we have set $10,000 as our goal because it takes care of some of the basic needs for our production. Such as being enough money to bring on our SAG actors and fulfill the requirements that come with a SAG ultra-low budget film agreement. This being said, there are still many areas in which we could use funding beyond that. For instance, the building of more elaborate props, better lighting packages, better set dressing, practical stunts and effects, post production workflow, camera/lens rentals ..etc. So please help us reach our secondary goal of $50,000 as well.
We are committed to making this project happen! We've already locked down some great cast, crew & locations, we have an amazing story to tell and with your help we're really going to bring this story to life.
Below are just some members of our great cast!
We are thrilled to have KC Guyer as Jack Fall. KC Guyer is an upcoming star who has recently been featured on shows such as NBC's Grimm. We can truly see no one else in this role.
Suzanne Tufan, who will be playing the role of Katie is an actress and musician from Portland, OR. Though relativity new to the film scene, Suzanne is an immensely talented and mature actress. It will be exciting to follow her over the next few years.
To say the least we are honored to have Dennis Fitzpatrick to play the role of Alan. Alan is the father of Jack and a key supporting character for Jack Fall. Simply put Dennis is an incredibly talented actor. Coming from a theater background Dennis has flown just below the radar. Dennis will truly bring Alan to life.
We are excited to announce that Joshua St. James will be joining our talented cast. Joshua will be playing the role of Ryan; best friend of Jack.
Adding icing to the cake Brian Sutherland will be playing the role of Jeremy a Local Officer of the law. Brian has been featured in shows such as Glitch, Nothing against Life, NBC's Grimm and many more.
We are very excited to announce that Bonnie Root will be joining the cast of Jack Fall. She will be playing the role of Carol Cahill.
Bonnie is best known for her role in Rails & Ties, directed by Alison Eastwood, her recurring role as Assistant D.A. Alexandra Thomas on CBS's Cold Case and recent Guest Star roles on Law and Order and Justified.
The extremely talented Russell Hodgkinson has come on board to join the cast of Jack Fall. He will be playing the role of Toby, the town of Lakeview's bartender.
Russell is best known for his role as "The Chief" in the soon to realeased 21 and Over (from the makers of The Hangover), Fat Kid Rules the World and recent Guest Star roles on NBC's hit Grimm and TNT's Leverage.
Cecily Crow as "Victoria"
Carl Hickerson as "Young Allen Wilber"
Risks and challenges
Some of the most prudent risks & challenges that come with this film have to do with the fact that we're shooting entirely on location. The SE Oregon area can lead to unpredictable weather. However, after having grown up filming in the pacific northwest we have grown accustomed to these conditions and we have planned out a shooting schedule that allows us to deal with on location shooting as effectively as possible.
One location in particular that we will be shooting in is the Alvord desert. The thing that makes this location tricky is that half of the year the desert is dry and the other half of the year the desert is completely flooded.... our script calls for both circumstances. We have prepared for this by designing a shooting schedule that will start with shooting in the dry season and end during the wet season allowing us several weeks of cushion on either side.
Another aspect that makes our script tricky is the amount of twilight scenes we have. To prepare for this we have done several test shoots using sky replacement, set extensions, DTN conversions ect and have come up with a very satisfying result that we're excited to share with everybody in the final product.
All in all we have made a very strong effort to lock down as many aspects as possible and follow the age old film making tradition of prepare for the worst, hope for the best. We have backup cameras and backups to almost all of our gear, we have a 2nd unit camera team ready to send out for pickup shots, we have spent several months locking down locations and setting up backup locations in the event that anything should fall through. A lot of preparation has gone into making this the best we possibly can. We have everything we need to make a great film, but with your help, we can really improve upon some of those small details that really make a film great.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
