Martial Arts: The Trading Card Game (Canceled)
"Finally a trading card game that's fast-paced, fun, and with actual martial arts!"
"Ok, I'm going to block your rifle with my... roundhouse kick.... Wha....???"
That pretty much summed up what inspired this game, Martial Arts: The trading card game. I've played so many card games that market themselves as a real martial arts game but after playing, it was either way too confusing or just plain silly. It's like me telling you your fresh fruit smoothie is made from food coloring and water. Nope, not gonna cut it.
As practitioners of various styles of martial arts, it was important that our game is not only fun, but made sense. It had to be fast-paced with actual moves and strategies you would use if you were a conditioned fighter with several years of hard training. The cards are actual moves and flow with realistic freedom within and between the different styles from around the world. More importantly, it's surprisingly easy to get into but very deep to master.
You are not stupid and we want to make sure this game shows you the respect you deserve by avoiding the hack approach and force-feeding you kung fu in a can. Instead, we want it to be you who goes toe to toe with a friend and open that can of something else instead!
WHY YOUR SUPPORT MATTERS:
We are at the pre-production point where we need the funding to fully commission our artist, Solomon Au Yeung to complete the rest of the artwork and transition over to premium print and packaging with Cartamundi (Magic: The Gathering, Battlestar Galactica, Star Wars, Game of Thrones). Also, we want to bring Martial Arts: The Trading Card Game to GenCon 2013 and get more people playing so we can bring to you even more martial arts styles from around the world to your table.
WHAT'S ALREADY BEEN DONE:
The gameplay mechanics are finalized for every card in the set and each have been playtested by experienced trading card gamers, martial artists, and people new to both, as we wanted the game to be adaptable to any level of play. In addition, all the card layouts, packaging and marketing material are good to go.
Help us make this game a reality and let's get these decks in your hand so you can mix, match, and form your own true style of martial arts.
THE GAME DECKS
In our first series, we'll be introducing 4 decks depicting 4 fighters from around the world. Each of these decks will represent a different martial arts style (some even more than one) which can be mixed and matched with each other until you've come up with one that fits you. The decks in our first series are:

We're extremely excited to bring you art from one of Hong Kong's popular game designer, Solomon Au Yeung. Involved in projects such as Dragon Tiger Gate and Stormriders, Solomon was also an artist for Magic: The Gathering.
His art style captures the essence of Hong Kong comics meet Western Fantasy. In Martial Arts: The Trading Card Game, his mission was to take the rich cultures of each individual martial art style and infuse it with the storyline of the characters you will become.
Being in Hong Kong and projects dealing heavily with martial arts, he really gets it. You can check out his other work on his facebook page!
