The stray dogs Moscow have a continually evolving social structure and level of sophistication that is a mystery and a marvel to researchers and dog lovers. To ensure their survival they have developed a complex social structure unlike that of domesticated dogs. Many Muscovites have a fondness for the metro dogs and seek protection for them. This project entails documenting the canine characters of the metro. We plan to publish a book of photographs of these animals with text about their individual stories. The entire trip to Moscow will be blogged. Brena Mercer has a degree in English literature and writes short stories. She has a print on demand publication through Blurb, Stretch- The Story of a Dog's Life. She will be responsible for research, interviews, the blog site, and the text for the book.
