After years of touring and writing, we are prepared to record our first full length album. Won't you join us?
Hi there. We are The Currys and we are a melodic folk rock group from Port St. Joe, Florida. We've played all over the United States and Ireland, been the subject of a PBS documentary, and written about a hundred songs. Fortunately, we've narrowed that list down to the low double digits, and now we're ready to hunker down and record our first full length album!
We know what you’re thinking. “Yes, I want your music in my life, but I also want to wear you on my body and wrap you around my drink to keep it cold!” While this request would normally seem absurd and vaguely psychotic, you’re in luck because some of our rewards allow you to do just that. In fact, you should take a moment to check out the sidebar to the right for a full list of our rewards and choose the one which best fits your needs and your budget.
We are two brothers, one cousin, and a rhythm section. Our music is characterized by rich vocal harmonies and charismatic live performances that keep you on your feet. If you prefer to sit, our music can also be enjoyed from a seated position. However, our music is hell laying down so don’t under any circumstances listen to our music while laying down. We can’t stress this enough.
We grew up together in the South, and places like Florida, Georgia, and Virginia are home to us. A lot of the album was written from the experiences we've had in this part of the country and you will definitely see glimpses of that on our record. In a sense, these songs are not just ours. They belong to all the people we've played for over the years, at all the festivals and the pubs and the oyster bars, from Florida to New York and all the way to Ireland. That Irish guy with no teeth who wanted to set us up with his daughter? Yes, our music belongs to him too. In fact we have a weird feeling that guy is going to spring for the $100 package and make us read all of Finnegan's Wake aloud. Not cool, Irish guy.
This album is the next big step for us as musicians, and we're ready to put our music out there in a big way. Every cent will be spent making the songs sound like gold or shipping them, along with the shiny rewards listed to the right, straight to your door. If we exceed our goal, the leftovers will be spent making the album that much better, the t-shirts that much softer, and the koozies that much less inevitably harmful to the environment, pregnant women, and newborns.
We want to thank you all for reading this and for deciding to be a part of our music! Even if you just pre-order a copy of our CD, we feel pretty sure you will love the result. However, if you share this page on Facebook, we will literally love you forever. That is not an exaggeration. One day the sun will burn out and the stars will fade away and our love for you will still be quietly smoldering somewhere in the night sky, all because you shared this with your friends on Facebook. Sounds implausible, right? Well just you wait and see.

As with any creative project, it's difficult to set any deadlines in stone. We want to make sure we are 100% happy with all the recordings before we leave the studio. This might take a little while. However, we are not planning on releasing this record until early 2014, so we have scheduled plenty of time for unexpected delays and setbacks. With plenty of recording experience under our belts, this project should be smooth sailing!
If we fail to raise $12,000 then no credit cards are charged, no rewards are given out, and the record doesn't get funded.
The record gets made just how it should be made and you get your rewards shipped to your doorstep!
If you decide that you'd like to host the Currys trio or full band at your house, there are a few stipulations. We are based on the East Coast of the United States and while we love to travel, expenses can really add up. We plan to be touring in the spring/summer of 2014 and we hope to fit most house concert requests into the tour routing. However, due to logistical restraints, we are limiting the concerts to states east of the Mississippi. Really, we'd love to play anywhere we can, so if you have extenuating circumstances (willing to chip in additional cash for travel costs, family owns a private jet, little sister has powerful teleportation abilities) just shoot us a message and we'll see what we can work out.
Great news! The extra money will be used for promotion of the new album, touring expenses, and funding music videos.
Once we get this thing funded, we'll send you an email survey and you can answer any questions regarding all of this stuff.
