Feel the stress roll off your body in waves as you immerse yourself in the warmth and beauty of these luscious lovelies awaiting your colors.
I am Jinky Coronado, best known as artist for Meg Cabot's best-selling AVALON HIGH graphic novel series, as well as artist of the long-running EXPOSURE series and creator/writer/artist of BANZAI GIRL.
Thank you so much for checking out my new Kickstarter project BEAUTIFUL DREAMERS!
What is more appealing and heartwarming than the perfect female form? Drawn by yours truly, BEAUTIFUL DREAMERS offers up images of endearing schoolgirls, distressed damsels, amazing adventurers, and other winsome wonders.
What's more, each illustration is joined with an inspirational quotation from the likes of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Carl Jung, John Keats, Rudyard Kipling, President Barack Obama, Carl Sagan, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Deepak Chopra, and many others!
The format will be like this: Wise words on the left (in gray, so it won't bleed into the page behind it) and lovely linework on the right:
Grownups are rediscovering tranquility through the simple act of coloring. Far beyond the simple "coloring inside the lines" of youth, adult coloring rediscovers the creative artist within you that may have been left behind while living in the real world.
Delightful color schemes, textural techniques, satisfying shadings, and gratifying gradations await as you unlock your fantasies and blossom your buoyant spirit coloring the imaginative interpretations within the pages of this book. Select your scene and journey into fantasy!
Use colored pencils, markers, paint, ink, or any other color medium you desire. The pages are perforated so that you can easily color and frame or otherwise showcase your completed art.
From the Introduction by David Campiti:
Beauty soothes the soul. We love to be surrounded by attractive things -- gorgeous women, handsome men, lovely surroundings. Beauty calms the heart, makes us feel at ease, gives us respite from everyday stress and worry.
Many of us love to doodle. It's the signal our brain is giving us that something not quite right, that there's a moment of tension or boredom that we're subconsciously trying to work our way around. Sometimes it helps to doodle, but as an emotional release valve it feels incomplete.
The act of coloring, however, is considered by some therapists to be "active meditation." According to an Aurora University write-up, "Oftentimes when you think of meditation you think of sitting still for a long period of time. With active meditation it is just the opposite. Repetitive motions such as coloring (or running, walking, dancing or even drawing) can help strengthen your focus and easily shift your attention back to a relaxed state. Stressful thoughts and future worries can be simply pushed aside as you take time to enjoy the present."
More than 100 years ago, no less a pioneer as Carl Jung directed his patients to color intricate patterns called mandalas --circular designs with concentric shapes similar windows in old churches -- to receive stress.
According to psychologist Gloria Martinez Ayala, “The action involves both logic, by which we color forms, and creativity, when mixing and matching colors. This incorporates the areas of the cerebral cortex involved in vision and fine motor skills. The relaxation that it provides lowers the activity of the amygdala, a basic part of our brain involved in controlling emotion that is affected by stress."
As psychologist Antoni Martínez has explained, “We can use it to enter into a more creative, freer state. I recommend it in a quiet environment, even with chill music. Let the color and the lines flow.”
In other words, a theta wave state.
It's all a fancy way of stating what I wrote at the beginning: Beauty soothes the soul. The images in this book, created by acclaimed artist Jinky Coronado with the help of Mel Joy San Juan, are designed to bring you joy and delight, with every swatch of color, with every swish of shade.
This book is not about how talented a colorist you are. Rather, it's about the internal beauty of relaxing your soul, your heart, your mind with the simple, youthful act of putting colors on the page any way that pleases you.
In other words, bringing out the beauty of the beholder.
This lovely book is a fully professional-quality publication, printed in the same 10" x 10" format and paper stock as the best-selling adult coloring books, complete with gorgeous gold foil on the front cover.

Goals & Stretch Goals!
In terms of my REAL goals? Well, I've set the bar pretty low so that we'll hit that base goal, enough to take a small run to the printer. But my REAL goal is to raise $22,000.00 or more, with your help. For that amount, I can offer a STRETCH GOAL of a whole bonus signature of pages -- increasing from 80 pages to 96 -- meaning a whole lot more illustrations to color!
This will, of course, also allow me to print enough for a major publisher to pick up my book for full distribution into the bookstore market. That means I can be right there next to Secret Garden and Enchanted Forest and even the Dark-Hunters and Game of Thrones and Harry Potter adult coloring books. That would be amazing!
But for all this, I really need your involvement, your pledges.
Please help me to make this happen!

Risks and challenges
Risks and challenges are few. I've produced and fulfilled successful Kickstarters. I've been a professional artist for 15 years.
I've already drawn all the illustrations for BEAUTIFUL DREAMERS. All the text is completed, and the entire book is designed and prepped and ready for the printer.
I only need the money to print and publish the book and handle packing/shipping and fulfillment of all the Kickstarter pledges -- and, I hope, enough money to distribute this book into bookstores!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
