60 hours to go!
You know the end is near when Kickstarter starts reporting your "time to go" in hours instead of days! With just a little over 2 days left, there are some important points to recap and new developments to share.
- Stretch Goal #1: Nailed it!
- Stretch Goal #2: Within striking distance…
- Plus: A New Reward
Stretch Goal #1
First off, Stretch Goal #1 of $15K was reached last Friday, which means that the book will be made available on additional platforms and distributed in more countries. At more than 200% of the initial funding goal, I think this is incredible. I thought I was setting a pretty conservative initial goal, but I definitely didn't anticipate this level of support. Thanks to everyone who has helped the project reach this milestone!
Stretch Goal #2
Possibly even more incredible is that, at $2,892 away (as of this update), the second stretch goal of $20K is within striking distance. The funds raised for Stretch Goal #2 will go toward accessibility improvements (such as better interaction with screen readers, and closed captioned video) in both the Transforms book and the Animation book. Word of mouth has been a surprisingly effective form of marketing for this Kickstarter; with a few days left I'd ask you to simply spread the word in your Twitter feeds, Facebook pages, and blogs. The most popular rewards for this Kickstarter are $10-$15, so it takes a decent volume of people to move the needle.
A New Reward
I've decided to offer a new reward to in these final days to help reach the second stretch goal, and to facilitate more face-to-face interactions with people who care about web technologies: get a copy of the book, a t-shirt, a poster, a thank you by name in the book, and an invite to the book release party for you and a guest for $100. 10 of these rewards are available today, and current backers are the first to know about this new reward. It's marked with the text "Reward added 2/26" to make it easier to find. The party will fall on a Friday in late April in San Francisco, and plenty of interesting people will be there!
Again, thanks so much for your support on this project!
