Pakli is a free, community-driven application, for both Android and iOS that let's you organize game nights easily, or join other people's tabletop events nearby. We all know how difficult it is to organize game nights, and bring together all the right people and the right game at the same time and place. If you've ever had the problem of not finding enough people for a specific game, or you simply wish to discover new games, and new people, then Pakli is for you.
We’ve been developing Pakli for over a year, and our public beta was launched in Hungary in the summer of 2017. Besides collecting valuable feedback, and shaping the app closer to perfection, these 2.5 months of testing have also proven to us that there is huge demand for what we have set out to achieve: with just 1800 users in this short time, we organized over 1000 participations to boardgaming events made by our users through Pakli. With a global launch, we expect hundreds of thousands of users, creating important micro-communities of board game enthusiasts all around the world. Please help us make this dream become a reality!
Create private or public board gaming events. Public events will instantly show up on a list and map for all other users in your area. You can set the time and place, select one or more games, and add a short description.
When people are interested in your event, you can decide who to invite. Only invited people will be able to see the exact location and participate in the chat.
Browse events in your area on a map view or a list view, and let the host know if you are interested in joining one of them.
When you are attending or hosting an event, you can use the chat to discuss details and make plans with all the other participants.
Browse through thousands of games, and add them to your collection, so others can see what you've got. Add them easily to any event you might be organizing. You can also follow games and people to get notified whenever a new event pops up that you might be interested in.
People supporting us on Kickstarter will also get a special backer flair on their profile to show off how awesome they are:
Not sure you'd want to organize game nights to your home? No problem! Our curated list of local board game-friendly pubs, bars and cafes called "Paklipoints" will welcome your event. It will be considered as a table reservation, and the venue staff is notified and updated as players gather in your event. You’ll have a table waiting for you, your friends and the game!
Developing a mobile application is already an expensive task. But creating hundreds of micro-communities all around the world is on a whole new level. We need funds to develop a backend that can support a global launch, and we will need enough marketing to reach a critical user base that will make the community self-sustaining.
By pledging us money that we will spend on attracting new users to Pakli, you are basically giving money to promote board gaming as a hobby, and help to grow the community. And if that wasn’t enough, please check out our “Advisor”, "Fellow" and “Founder” pledges, where you can actually decide in which area should we spend more on marketing. Should you decide to pledge any additional amount on top of the minimum of these levels, 50% of that will also go to the marketing budget of your chosen city.
Do you own, or manage a board game café? Or simply a pub, café, or community center, that welcomes board gamers, and the extra traffic that they bring? We are all for you. One of Pakli's most important assets is the Paklipoint feature. Users hosting an event in Pakli get to decide whether they wish to host the game in their home (or some other private place), or they want to check out the coolest boardgaming spots in town. If they decide to go out, they are offered a list of possible venues in their area. The chosen venue is automatically notified via email and has access to an admin web page, to get real time information regarding the size of the group coming to the reservation. You will be able to sign up your place for this service when Pakli launches, OR you can back us now, on the "Paklipoint Pledge" level and save a lot of money!
We also have exceptional value to offer for publishers. Pakli will be an amazing tool for you, to create special offers and reach your target audience, whether you just released an expansion, are trying to get the word out about your new Kickstarter, or in the need of organizing testplays. By pledging on the "Publisher Pledge" level, you can have it all!

Risks and challenges
We have been developing Pakli for over a year now. Our public beta was launched in the summer of 2017 and have been running without any major problems since then. While we are planning to improve and include a lot more, the core features are already working and hundreds of people use them. The only thing that could potentially lead to delays in our global launch is problems in the development of our backend service. Currently Pakli runs on a very limited backend that can serve 1-2 thousand parallel users, but it has to be redesigned before we can launch globally. In case of a successful Kickstarter we can start working on this in late November, meaning that we should be ready to start testing in January, giving us plenty of room until April. The team behind Pakli have been running a small mobile app development studio for years, and with 20 years of combined experience in this field, we are confident that we can overcome any challenges that might come our way.
While we are not expecting any major challenges in the development anymore, marketing after our release will certainly be an uncharted territory for us. We are aware of the fact that Pakli will only get to it’s full potential when filled with an active community of board gamers. In case of a successful Kickstarter, the global release of Pakli is just the beginning. We will continue with doing everything we can to build communities all around the world.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
