COSSAC launched last October with our AW14 brand preview collection to get people talking about us but we need help to fund the first big collection for SS15. So take a look at our latest catalogue, hear our story and decide if you want to be ECO HOT with COSSAC.
From a perfect timeless white tee to eye catching statement pieces, COSSAC creates a sleek and stylish collection that adapts to the latest fashion trends yet stays ethical.
Our mission is to source eco-friendly fabrics and to produce quality garments that are sustainable in both manufacture and design, without sacrificing on style.
Our garments will be your tool in making an ethical statement offering more sustainable and environmentally friendly alternatives to the often wasteful fashion industry; we want to start a change in the way people perceive fashion and want to promote more responsible and conscious consumer behaviours.
COSSAC is divided into 2 collections:
FOR THE EYE collection responds to the latest season’s trends with an ethical fashion twist. The sleek minimalistic designs create a stylish sustainable fashion look inspired by the catwalk with the same high fashion qualities using eco-friendly and recycled fabrics. We want the collections to be affordable as well as ethical so in order to compete with the high-street we keep prices to the lowest possible. FOR THE EYE garments are available from £60.
FOR THE SOUL collection brings together timeless, simple garments with an ethical fashion value. Perfect for yoga, training or just a casual weekend style. Organic cotton with a low carbon footprint is used to create a range of stylish roll sleeved t-shirts and easy-fit sweatshirts each printed using eco-friendly water-based inks for a statement yet simple look. Again maintaining a competitive price is very important for our FOR THE SOUL collection. Our tees are available for £25 and sweatshirt £45.
'CONCIOUS FASHION, FASHION CONSCIOUS'
COSSAC uses various suppliers from UK, India, Germany, Turkey to produce our garments. The list of suppliers is constantly expanding and we make a conscious effort to continue to educate ourselves and improve processes. Fabrics we use are fair trade, organic, sustainable, recycled or have low environmental impact. Right now 80% of all fabrics we use fulfill this brief, in future we want it all to be 100% eco-friendly and are working towards this daily.
Production is carried out in the UK, India and in future Turkey; we want to make sure that workers are receiving fair wages, they are working in just conditions and they are not being exploited in any form. We visit each of the factories to ensure this process is guaranteed.
COSSAC operates purely as an online retailer; we believe this is the most eco-friendly approach to fashion distribution. Receipts, purchases and delivery details are communicated via email to reduce paper waste. All packaging and labelling is kept to an extreme minimum on our garments during delivery. Boxes are 100% recyclable as well as our hang-tags and business cards. We leave no trace apart from the sustainability statement you make in our ECO-HOT garments.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
We have a vision and an idea we strongly believe in our only obstacle now is raising the funds to continue on our mission, a tricky task for any start-up brand. COSSAC wants to grow and to make a difference but we need your help! This is all of our planet and we all need to take responsibility, by supporting COSSAC you are helping to start a change in attitude towards the fast fashion industry that is guilty of abusing workers and causing damage to our natural environment.
In our mission of changing the face of high street and the way people perceive fashion we have some tough competition. In order to make a difference we need a strong backing of like minded supporters to tell our story. We want to reach out to the right people, we want to be able to afford bigger scale production and get our garments to other eco-friendly retailers and into the hands of consumers. But more than all of this we want to educate the fashion community and customers about conscious consumerism and the difference their purchase choices can make.
We have sought out and researched new Fair Trade manufacturing factories from India and UK that we would love to collaborate with for SS15. On top of this our fabric supplier database has expanded dramatically since we started the company in early 2014 and we are very excited to see that sustainable fabric market is growing so fast, we want to include them in our mission to support these great innovators. Fair trade manufacturing and eco fabrics are much more expensive than standard low cost high street production but we believe its worth the extra price in order to change the wasteful face of fashion and help our planet. Your funding will help to make this change happen.
We have big plans for SS15! We want to introduce new shapes (dresses, skirts, etc). We plan to increase our colour palette with beautiful naturally dyed fabrics we have found. We want to introduce some innovative sustainable fabrics (how about fish or mushroom leather?). We also intend to do some interesting collaborations with alike sustainable brands and exciting artists! Future looks exciting for COSSAC, want to be a part of it?
We have been overwhelmed by the great support we have received so far from our amazing followers and supporters. Some of the best Ethical Fashion Bloggers and key members of the eco-fashion industry have shown their support for COSSAC by donning our fair-trade low impact cropped tees. We want them to remain a part of our journey and they are just as excited as we are to continue it together.
Sustainability without sacrificing on style!
In the early days of COSSAC's origin The Fashion Globe featured COSSAC as part of their Greener Twitterati article, praising us for the 'sophisticated images' of our A/W14 photo-shoot. We have also been recognised by the likes of The Fair Trade Foundation and Eco Cult for our social media activity during our launch and our enthusiasm to spread the word of making ethical fashion choices
Read Emma Waight's blog to see what all the excitement is about.
Speaking of which, we have also launched a social campaign called COSSAC IN THE WOLRD where we want to encourage other like minded individuals to express themselves by taking pictures and posting statements over social media to show their support for an ethical lifestyle. We hope this campaign will encourage the spread of knowledge between brands, organisations and individuals on their views of sustainability and teach others how to adapt their lifestyle to a low environmental impact but high positive social impact... and of course always keeping it ECO-HOT!

Risks and challenges
Every start up is faced with challenges, for a slow fashion brand this includes a variety of specific factors. Sourcing fabrics can be a meticulous task due to the nature of sustainable fabrics you can't rely on suppliers with deliveries and delayed fabric delivery may delay all production.
Speaking of production, dealing with small quantities can be a challenge itself. Very few manufacturers want to work with small quantity orders (below 700 pieces per design); we need to find a production outlet willing to reduce the quantities; we also do not want to over-produce and be left with stock as it goes against sustainable planning. We have done our research and found some great candidates but this all relies upon the justified funding to afford the services we require for our brand ethos.
Another concern is the exposure we can gain. In order to compete with big players on the high street you need a big promotion campaign. We can't compete with them when it comes to funds so we have to make sure that our campaign is interesting and different enough in order to attract clients, this means paying fair wages for our independent promoters and rewarding them for their commitment to our mission. We believe our mission is enough to counteract that but a strong backing of invested supporters will help us get further and that's where you come in.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
