Sarah Bowman asks your help to finish the album she recorded in a beautiful concert hall in Bern, Switzerland last summer.
Last summer I recorded alone in an empty concert hall in the beautiful city of Bern, Switzerland. The making of this album has been an opportunity of a lifetime. I slept upstairs by night, and recorded on stage by day. I wrote, rewrote, and arranged 11 new songs in a hauntingly inspirational setting with use of a Steinway grand piano, two beautiful acoustic guitars, a magnificent cello, and top notch gear to get the job done the way I have always dreamed of trying (at least once)- totally alone.
I believe this album is the greatest work of my life, and though I started it alone, I can't finish it alone.
Since the summer, 5 incredible musicians from Austin, Amsterdam, Bern, and Luzern have contributed to the final tracking. We've been sharing files electronically, and I have been working carefully with these files at home in NY. I am self taught on Pro Tools recording software, which admittedly is very cutting edge for this native Iowa girl and her little digital interface.
Now I've come to the end of what I can do on my own. In order to finish the album, I need your help to cover the cost of mixing, mastering, printing and promoting it. I will reward your generosity with everything I can think to give- including special editions of the album, my artwork in various forms, concerts in your home or town, executive producer credit, and even music videos and recordings of your favorite songs, shared and recorded just for you!
Final costs: Mixing and Mastering: $3,000 Designing and Duplicating: $1,000 Promotion: $1,000 Total: $5,000
I've set each category at a modest but informed sum, and if I can raise over the goal, I will put this into furthering promotion so that we can all see this album go as far as it can go. The songs are inspired by places I've lived including IA, NY, NC, Switzerland, MA, CA, MD and Haiti. One song is dedicated to Salle Sainte Cecile, Haiti's concert hall that was destroyed in last year's earthquake. I want to take the opportunity to use my voice to make a difference in the world. With Kickstarter.com, we have an opportunity to do it together. Lets launch this thing!
The project completion date at OASIS manufacturing is June 7th. Add shipping time to me, then shipping time to you, and then you have your ETA. My goal is to have all albums distributed before the end of June. Digital Downloads will be available by mid June.
Those in the $25 rewards category and above will receive a double disc edition. The second disc contains tracks from the concert at La Cappella on April 25th, 2010 as well as remixes of some of the album tracks, as well as the two new songs written for our very own Kickstarter backers on this campaign. See the $1000 or more category description for more information.
