About this project
Bitingduck Press is a new independent press based in Montreal, Quebec and Pasadena, California. It is staffed by a team of volunteers who are active and retired academics in the humanities and physical sciences, who together have more than one hundred years' experience writing, editing, and producing manuscripts of all kinds. Our goals are to give a voice to nerds and geeks everywhere, people who can give an inside view into the underbelly of biotech, rocket science, or just everyday life at universities. We accept original fiction in all genres, including mystery, sci-fi, horror, humor, and young adult.
In only three months of existence, we have accepted four excellent submissions from authors across North America. The first book to complete the editorial process is A Slow Cold Death, a murder mystery by physics professor Susy Gage. We are turning to Kickstarter for help in marketing this book to the greatest extent possible. Because it is our first, we want to get it out there to reading audiences and show everyone the quality of Bitingduck Press's authors and production. While we are doing a print run for many of our books, our main focus is on E-books. We hope that our marketing campaign will publicize not only the book, but the concept of easy-to-buy, easy-to-download, device-independent electronic publication.
One of our editorial board is also a bookbinder. This allows us to offer a special exclusive reward to pledges of $500 or more: hand-bound hardcover copies of the book. Only 4 are available, and we can promise you they are beautiful.
