A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.
Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.
The EDGE - Inspired by function, Designed for comfort.
“…The Edge, a pleasantly priced, and creative watch, that pushes affordable watch design into a new dimension.”
"I want a lightweight watch that would sit comfortably and flat on my wrist without leaving marks. So, I designed the EDGE."
- Brandon Hnedak, Owner of Morimoto Watch Company
People love watches. They’re fashionable as well as functional. And a great way to express your personality. But what people don’t love is the way they dig into your hand when your wrist is bent.
So I set out to design a watch that wouldn’t irritate your hand, but was still stylish and unique. The result, is the Morimoto Edge.
Limited Edition!!! Only 200 watches will be made!
Select a reward of your choice and pledge the amount or more. You will choose the watch color after the funding is over. I will send out a questionnaire asking my backers which color of the watch they would like. Rewards are in US dollars.
- ON THE WRIST -
- ON DISPLAY -
The Edge features the precise Japanese Miyota quartz movement. The 316L Stainless steel case is complimented by a Calf leather band, a heat-treated 3mm domed crystal and a recessed crown. As an added feature the date display is located above the 6 o’clock marker.
The Morimoto EDGE can fit an 8 inch wrist and can go as small as a 6 and a half inch wrist. If your wrist is smaller or bigger, contact me and I can adjust the band to fit your wrist at no extra cost.
Also, as the designer of the EDGE, I added my signature on the back of the watch: Brandon Hnedak (kne-dak).
The Morimoto EDGE comes with its own custom cut watch box made from 100% recycled paper. Small magnets hold the box flap down.
I have always loved watches but not the way they feel on your wrist. I decided to create my own. Most watches are round, some are square and very few are a triangular. By combining all three, a new concept was born.
Stretch goal 1: UNLOCKED
If we raise $6,500 or more, we will make 25 Right hand Morimoto EDGE watches.
Stretch goal 2:
If we raise $7,500 or more, we will upgrade to a sapphire crystal at no added cost to you.
Stretch goal 3:
If we raise more than $10,000, we will be able to create a rally version of the EDGE. If you have or have not backed a watch, you can get this at the same price as the other rewards.
Risks and challenges
I have built a close relationship with a trusted manufacture. It took 4 months before I was confident in sending my money to them for prototypes. I have ordered and designed several prototypes before launching the campaign. The prototypes were all perfectly crafted and tested in daily use for 11 months with no issues.
Small aesthetic modifications will be made for version 3 of the Edge. There will be a better crafted leather watch band (no stitching knots shown on the back of the band). The black watch band will have a contrasting dark grey stitching to better match the other color styles.
