Holiday Gift Idea 🎁 & Spreading the Love ❤️

Since the moment my book, Brutally Honest, arrived out in the world, I’ve been so honored by the great feedback I’ve received from everyone and continue to swell with pride everytime I see the love being shared by others on social media! After working on the book for over 3 years, it’s nice to know that all my hard work – as well as the contribution of all my collaborators – was worth it with the book providing the value I wanted it to for the creative community. This makes me so very happy. Thank you.

Brutally Honest makes a great gift!

Now that we are close to the holiday season, I hope you’ll think of gifting Brutally Honest to your friends & colleagues in your creative community. It’s chock full of great business advice, as you all know, and because of that, I think it makes a great gift to those that you think can benefit from its insight (think staff or fellow peers)! 

Also, I included my book in a holiday gift guide that Core77 asked me to curate! My theme: Coffee Table Companions by Graphic Design Entrepreneurs. Spread the Love

As you know, since I’m self-published, the book has mainly sold through word-of-mouth referrals (and through my speaking engagements). For those that have already posted the book up on their social media, thank you! For those that haven’t, I hope you’ll consider shouting out the love on your social media channels – don’t forget #BrutallyHonestTheBook & @emilyruthcohen – and please write a review on Goodreads or on my site

I’ve also started lining up my speaking engagements and book signings for the Spring and Fall of next year, including a main stage talk at the AIGA National Conference in Pasadena in early April. If you have any connections with press, podcasts, bookstores, design schools, and/or local design/creative groups (e.g., Ladies, Wine & Design, AIGA chapters), I hope you’ll introduce us. I’m particularly looking to speak outside North America a bit more.

News for the New Year 

A few things I’ll be working on or doing in the New Year: 

I’m excited to announce that I’ve been asked to speak at a Creative Mornings in Melbourne (Australia!!!) in March. I’ll also be conducting a half day workshop while I’m there. If you are interested in hearing more about the workshop, please connect with me. I’d love to test your interest in a few different workshop topics being considered. Of course, I’ll also combine my time there with a much-needed vacation to Australia and New Zealand – I can’t wait. 

I’m happy to announce that in just a few months, I’ve already sold over 75% of the first editions. If all goes as planned, I hope to reprint more books in the New Year. Woohoo. 

Lastly, I hope to also begin selling the book on Amazon and potentially, through select independent bookstores sometime in early 2019. Stay tuned!
