The Status quo in Burkina Faso:
Right now, the average annual income in Burkina Faso, West Africa is around $790, with more than 80% of the population relying on subsistence agriculture to survive. With the recent swings in environmental conditions, every year it becomes harder and harder to be a subsistence farmer. Despite the tough economic climate and worsening weather conditions, the people of Burkina Faso are some of the friendliest and cheerful people on the planet. The reason for this is because Burkina Faso is rich with fashion, art, and culture. In the vibrant streets of BF, skilled artisans buy, sell, and trade masterful artwork from all different mediums: shirts, shoes, paintings, purses, etc. These artisans look forward to creating beautiful art each day because it is their passion.
In an e-commerce driven world dominated by technology, the artisans of Burkina Faso are unfortunately left out. Without the disposable capital required to purchase the necessary technology to compete in the global marketplace, talented artisans put their passions aside. Many times, these passionate artisans have to trade their brushes for plows because they simply can’t support themselves or their families with their craft.
Dreamac inc. Our first step towards solving these problems was by empowering local artisans in Burkina Faso. We believe that by creating a network of artisans and giving them a platform to sell their products, we can help them reach a global audience. In order to do this, we provide the artisans with full marketing, shipping, pricing and any other logistical requirements that come up. In addition, we provide them with an online platform to transform their passion into a sustainable source of income. Because we give the majority of the proceeds to the artisans, we aim to decrease the size of the population reliant on subsistence agriculture to less than 40% in 5 years. Our goal is to work with as many developing regions as we can to bring their fashion and culture to the global scale and create a dialogue between individuals.
We also have a strong belief that art and fashion can bring cultures and people together. It is our hope that the sharing of fashion can be used as a dialogue between cultures to come together, put our differences aside, and enjoy the true beauty the world has to offer.

More About Us:
A Message from Kevin Thomas, our CEO:
My name is Kevin Thomas, a rising junior at the University of Pennsylvania, and the CEO of Dreamac Inc. In early October, I was approached by Batchema Sombié while I was coding in the freshman college dorm computer room. He told me that he was an international freshman student from Burkina Faso with many entrepreneurial ideas and that as a coder, I would be the perfect partner. We were each inhabited by the desire of having a company with a real social impact because we believed that business should be all about giving people the means to improve their lives. It therefore did not take us long to figure out that the present mission of Dreamac Inc was what we wanted to pursue. After calling his friend Romuald Eklou-Ayité still in high school in Burkina Faso, we started laying down the ground work for Dreamac Inc. We were later joined by Michael Beer and Elizabeth Reckart. Together we grinded day and night on our mission until we were ready to launch in early May. Now as an incorporated company, we are actively pursuing our mission. I have become the CEO of Dreamac, Michael the Chief Marketing Officer, Elizabeth is the Technology Manager, and Romuald is now the first Dreamac liaison agent in Burkina Faso. Because he is on a student visa, Batchema does not have an active position in Dreamac Inc.
“Dreamac” means Dreamers and Achievers. True to this name, we work hard day and night to make all our dreams of building a better world through the internet, art and fashion become reality. We hope that you will join us in our noble mission by supporting us in this Kickstarter campaign. Please join our journey, and share with as many people as possible.
Risks and challenges
Dreamac Inc. is powered by human capital. All our products and Kickstarter rewards are entirely handmade. Therefore, an illness or an accident that affects the health of our artisans may hinder timely delivery. To avoid this, all the offered rewards are by artisans with a large team ready to face such challenges. Also, we have limited the number of pledges to amounts that we know are manageable within the time period before the promised delivery dates. We highly value your support, and guarantee that we will fulfill all the pledges. Thank you for believing in our mission.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
