Hi, Backers!

Some of our North American backers have received their systems - we currently have 100 Basestations registered!  Wahoo!  Please don't hesitate to reach out to us if you're having any issues setting up your systems or have any feedback to offer!  Either send an email to support@myplantlink.com or submit a request via our support center (you can also access our support center by clicking the "Help" link in your dashboard).

We'd love to see pictures of your PlantLinks in action, so we're holding a contest!  Post a pic of your PlantLink to Twitter or Facebook, tagging #PlantLink and @osotechnologies, and we'll enter you in a drawing for a FREE ADDITIONAL LINK!  We'll announce the date of the drawing once we receive shipping confirmation for all North American backers.

I'm a Valve system backer, but I only received my Basestation and Links.  What's the deal?

We've run into development issues with the valve; it's currently in pre-production.  We've sourced all of the components and are finalizing the prototype right now.  We hope to have the final version complete by the end of May.  We apologize that we haven't been more proactive about communicating this to our valve backers.  We didn't want to delay shipment of the Basestations and Links any further, so we decided to ship out partial rewards while we complete the valve.  We will be posting a Kickstarter update with more specific info regarding the valve in the very near future.

I'm a SmartThings user; any update on integration?

We're finalizing some API communication details with SmartThings, but the timeline for integration is not certain.  Our apologies that we were unable to accomplish this goal prior to our ship date, as I realize this is not the ideal scenario for our SmartThings users. However, I assure you that this is still a priority for us, and if you're interested, we'd be happy to send you updates to notify you on our progress.  Send us an email at info@oso.tc if you're like to be added to this email list.

What's going on with the iOS app?

The iOS app is still in development.  It's workable, but the user experience is not as clean and is still a bit glitchy in comparison to the web app.  As soon as all of the North American backers have their hardware (and we've shaken out the issues inherent in a new hardware release), we'll be accepting users into a beta for the iOS app.  If you're interested in participating in the beta, please send us an email at info@oso.tc.

Where can I order extra Links?

You can order extra Links here.  These will come off the line on April 8th, and you should receive your order in mid to late April.  This is true for all preorders placed through Celery during the Kickstarter campaign as well.

I'm an international backer; when can I expect my rewards?

We completely understand your frustrations and wish you could share in the experiences of our North American backers.  That being said, we still don't have any solid information in terms of a timeline for shipment.  As we've said in the past, the international regulatory obstacles we've run into have presented unexpected challenges.  We should be able to devote more time and attention to these problems once the initial order-fulfillment madness has subsided.  We understand that you're feeling abandoned and sincerely appreciate your patience and support.

      People here have a right to be concerned about these delays, the same as you have a right not be concerned. I think people understand that KS is not a store but if we are truly backers, we have a right to know about delays in a timely fashion and also to have questions answered - otherwise backers will lose faith in the project developers.

      Why take it up with our elected officials. It is their job to keep us safe and put regulations into place to ensure this. It is the job of a manufacturer to understand what is required for certification if they plan on launching their product in a given market. Sure, the developers may have been given bad information on certification and I feel for them in this situation. However, regardless of everything else they have to manage, there is no reason whey they can't keep backers fully informed of these delays.

      You guys do realize that Oso is not a gigantic multinational company that can just crank out international electronics compliance overnight? This isn't the first KS electronics project I've backed and every time there are delays for international shoppers due to regulations. Take it up with your elected officials, not Oso.
      US orders ship first because compliance is simpler and that's where the majority of the orders are going to come from. Until either of those factors changes, the situation will remain that way. Not because they have "no regard" for international backers or consider them "donors", but because simple business dictates that you fulfill your biggest and easiest group first.

      I have got to agree with the sentiment here. If you were serious about updating international backers you would have listed all the countries you have to get certification for and the stage of progress you are at with each. You seem to be treating us international backers as donors not backers. Get your professionalism and business acumen sorted out.

      I am gobsmacked that you aren't at least learning from other KS projects that backers aren't idiots who are happy to provide funding without at least been kept informed. If this is your first business, learn from your's and others mistakes and make this right.

      Come on, you planned to ship by June last year. Now it's 9 months later and all you're telling us is that you understand that we are frustrated, but you have no idea if and when we can expect to receive anything?

      Anybody affected by no valves being posted or if you are an international backer, I suggest you get on Facebook or Twitter (as suggested!) and make your displeasure known. Don't forget to use the #PlantLink hashtag!!
      It's time to put some pressure on these guys!!

      Completely agree with the backers below... International backers are being treated with complete contempt!
      In addition, you slyly attempt to just send out partial rewards without any explanation beforehand!! What kind of corporate governance have you guts got in place?!
      As I've said before, if you guys were a real business and got your finance from a bank... well, no, I can't really say that because there's no bank that would ever finance you!
      But if your backers were shareholders I can assure you, you would be fired by now.
      Worst Kickstarter Project I've ever been associated with!

      I'm sorry but I have to agree with Djapink!
      We've been waiting far too long for zero information about our links. All you can say is "we don't have a timeline", which is very dissapointing.
      As I've told you before, the links would be of great value to my 5 huge pollytunnels because I need control over irrigation and professional systems cost 200€ / month for 3 sensors! And with you system I can have 10 sensors at the same price, and only pay it once.
      I've searched for alternatives as I can't keep waiting forever but none is as good as yours promisses to be. There's a huge potential for your product here and you don't seem to care.
      Please change this and treat us with the care you should!

      Dear plant link pioneers. The explanation for the international backers is actually not acceptable, when pledging there was no statement about you having/expecting difficulties concerning handling international orders. If this had been anounced, international backers could have had an idea about pledge-fullfillment. Now we have pledged a fair amount of money including extra shipping and you boldly state we are just screwed for the time you guys are busy with your national orders. I hope you understand that without the international orders your company would not have been what it is now. I would recommend to urgently look into your way of working, because the current way is like "thank you for your money int backers, we'll forget you now".
