Once again, thanks to everyone who has supported us so far. We thought it would be fun to introduce a couple of STRETCH GOALS before our campaign ends in just 8 days! These are some things we can strive for to make this place even better!
Reaching this goal will allow us to purchase some new kitchen equipment. We would like to make some fresh baked goods in-house, and reaching this stretch goal would allow us to buy a new professional mixer, bakeware and baking utensils.
Reaching this goal will allow us to move forward with the permits and costs for having outdoor seating. We would love to get some small tables and chairs right outside our storefront to provide more seating for people to enjoy our yummy waffles. In addition, as a bonus for reaching this goal, all backers who pledge $50 or more will get a voucher for a free mochi waffle of their choice!
We are excited to announce the opening of San Francisco's first board game cafe! The Game Parlour will be a place for people of all ages to unplug and engage with each other over food and board games, opening in Spring 2018 in San Francisco's Inner Sunset district.
It’s always fun and exciting to see businesses grow from the ground up. To be a part of something this special doesn’t always come often. By joining us on Kickstarter and giving your support, you can say that you played a role in building San Francisco’s first board game cafe!
With your support, you can help us with continually expanding our collection of games. There are thousands of great board games out there and while we won’t have all of them, we would like to get close! Our goal is to have something for every type of gamer. From young to old, first time gamers to veterans, we would like to provide a wide selection of games to make everyone happy.
There are also many little details that we want to add to make this place special and inviting for everyone. Over the course of our first few months we will be working on this, as well as expanding our menu.
Thanks so much for checking out our Kickstarter and even if you aren't able to help fund this project right now, we hope you can drop by sometime to say hi.

Risks and challenges
When we found our location, we knew right away it was the place for us. The large open space and bright natural lighting was exactly what we were looking for. We could immediately envision how great the spot would be full of people having a great time over board games and food.
However, the sheer amount of clean up that had to be done was enormous. It seemed like there was decades of built up trash and unused equipment stored by previous owners. We had enough garbage to fill four U-haul trucks! We spent a large amount of time sorting, cleaning and hauling things to the dump.
Then construction started. We found out immediately that building out a cafe is very costly, frequently delayed, and comes with many unforeseen challenges. We were constantly finding new things we needed to fix or improve. Thankfully we had a lot of great advice and guidance from people already in the restaurant and construction industry showing us how to handle each situation and deal with unexpected issues.
One of the ways we wanted to add our personal touch to this space was by making our own tables and shelves. This has been no easy task. Sourcing the wood, cutting it, and assembling everything ourselves has been a true labor of love. In fact, as you read this, we're most likely still working on the tables and shelving!
That being said, this whole process has been really rewarding. Now, after a few long months of intense labor and dedication, we are excited to be open very soon for everyone to enjoy.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
